I chose this BnB based on a review from Rough guides. Fujiyama is in an ideal location and run by friendly staff. Elena and her staff went out of their way to give me suggestions and work around my schedule. Rooms are Spartan to match the Japanese tea house experience, but comfortable. Besides I only use my room to sleep,... More

Just returned from a three night stay in Venice with my daughter. Stayed in the Shanghai room at owner's suggestion as they don't have twin rooms and this is their largest room. It had an extra large double bed which was fine for us. Rooms and premises are very clean and well maintained. Continental breakfast in the courtyard was a... More

It isn't clear to this ex-client why this isn't a hotel. It may have to do with the fact that the tax laws in Italy are somewhat more generous to B&Bs. I spent five nights at Fujiyama. Elena, usually stationed in the Tea Room on the ground floor, was gracious and accommodating. The breakfast was more than adequate, although anyone... More

The best B&B that I have ever stayed in. Quite exceptional place to stay. No tourist crowds here, yet one is very close to all the sights that one comes to Venice to see. I stayed in TOKYO, a small double room on the first floor . It looks onto the delightful terrace where one can take tea or coffee.... More

Elena was a fantastic host. We arrived late afternoon to find the adjoining Fujiyama Tea Rooms abuzz with locals enjoying a tea, coffee, perhaps a light snack or sweet delight, some were students from the local university swoting over text books, others were simply enjoying the court yard and reading the paper. This set the tine for our stay at... More

This was our second visit to Fujiyama this year, and we will be back again before long. It ticks all the boxes. Less then five minutes with no bridges to the Alilaguna airport transfer. Excellent restaurants nearby. Quiet location, yet close to the all the attractions. Comfortable beds with decent linen. Reasonable prices for Venice. And most of all, the... More

Good-sized high ceiling bedroom with it's perfectly adequate bathroom facilities. spotlessly clean . Lovely garden for breakfast . Elena and Noel are founts of knowledge . Fujiama is within five minutes walk to the academia bridge And within ten of the piazza Roma. Must important of all there are no bridges to negotiate between the vaporetto stop and Fujiama.

Location could not be better, convenient to restaurants, water taxi's and centrally located for where ever you are going. Property was very clean, very well maintained. Elena greeted us and was very accommodating, pleasant and speaks English very well. Food and service was excellent, room was wonderful. Will definately return on my next visit to Venczia!

Only 5 rooms, I think, and Elena treats everyone as an honored guest. She not only recommended a nearby restaurant -- La Bitta -- but even walked us to the door & arranged for a hard-to-get booking that evening! The hotel front room & courtyard are a tea shop during the day, but everything shuts down in the evening &... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
