I was pleasantly surprised but the high rating reflects the overall experience. Rooms unbelievably nice and great location close to the Grand Canal. One of the best breakfasts you'll ever get included with the price of the room. Rooms and bathrooms are large especially for Europe. Overall a great value for the nightly rate. I would stay there again and...

I can't imagine a more ideal spot for staying in Venice. Steps away from the very close water taxi just a few stops from the train station, this hotel is in a lovely neighborhood with cafes, shops, etc, Our large first floor room and beautifully tiled huge bathroom with lots of hot water in the shower was right behind the...

We enjoyed a wonderful four nights at Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo. It is the perfect location in Venice. It is off the most traveled paths so it is quiet, yet it is close to everything you want to be close to. It was less than a 10 minute walk to Rialto Bridge. The staff was wonderfully welcoming, friendly, and helpful;...

This was our second stay at this lovely B&B. We had the opportunity to sleep in one of the newly renovated rooms and thoroughly enjoyed our time. Always great service, wonderful staff and plentiful breakfast. This location allows venturing into neighborhoods and experiencing restaurants off the beaten path. Would return again!!

What a great place to stay in Venice. The rooms are clean, light and very spacious. The breakfast was plentiful with a good selection of cereals, hams, pastries etc. Nothing was any trouble for the staff who were very helpful with everything you need to know. The location is perfect (around 10 mins from Rialto Bridge and the tourist area)...

We loved the location as it is convenient and yet away from the busier areas of Venice. Our room was beautiful and comfortable. The breakfast is yummy and served in a lovely dining room. Service was friendly.

The rooms were wonderful. We had three couples stay for three nights. The rooms were a real treat. We had two junior suites and a superior with balcony in the main part of the hotel The hotel is old but the rooms were modern. The breakfast was good and the staff was great. The location for me was wonderful away...

Great location, 1 minutes walk from San Stae vaparetto, (which is about 3 stops from the train & bus station), and stops at all the central locations going in the other direction (about 30 mins on the no. 1 vaparetto to San Marco, although you could also get off at Rialto and change to a No. 2 which will get...

Outstanding stay at a location that could not have been better for access to all sites and transport. Hotel was very great looking ( may have been recently freshened up but very nicely maintained to me) room was more than adequate (we stayed in annex) next doorway down, really no problem. Airport vaparretto ( dock 13 I believe) took you...

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
