We booked this place for a special anniversary. We had come here on our honeymoon and had a room overlooking a canal. So we wanted to have a great experience again. As their website advertised that the rooms overlook the canal (quote from website: "The rooms, with bathroom and air conditioning, overlook a typical Venetian canal, along which our guests...

This place was such a delicious surprise. Our room was large and very decadently decorated with gilt and red drapes (we had to have a "selfie photo shoot" as soon as we arrived!). Staff were really friendly and helpful. And such an amazing location in the middle of everything. We could lean out our window and watch the Gondolas float...

Our hotel room was quite big and extremely clean! Although we barely spent anytime in there, I was happy with the price I paid for the room. This location is great because everything is closeby within 5 minutes. I would definitely recommend this place for first timers in venice.

This hotel is set between San Marco and Rialto within few minutes of each so has the best location. We had booked a superior room but to our pleasant surprise we were upgraded to a luxury suite. Very nice. Room was large and spacious. Had a small balcony overlooking a canal. Generally quiet except in the morning when goods are...

We happened upon this wee restaurant by accident. Not elegant in decor. Very eclectic. But the food...OMG! Everything was fresh and delish. The gentleman server was crazy funny and even gave me a bag of their pasta to take home. Good wine too.

Like any hotel in Venice it was initially hard to find. We arrived late from our flight but had called ahead. The front desk made the easy arrangements for us for our late check in and we settled up the next morning. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was modern and clean. The location was excellent in that it...

From the moment we arrived until our departure early morning at 3AM, this hotel rocked! The staff was so helpful in calling my travel agent to help with our early morning boat and taxi ride to the airport. So helpful and it alleviated so much stress! Beautifully clean and updated rooms. The room was a nice size, especially for Europe, and tastefully decorated. Bed was comfortable and everything was clean. Wifi was included and the signal was strong. The two staff we dealt with spoke passable English and were helpful. The only drawback was that the were not open at all hours. We arrived in the early afternoon and there was...

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
