We stayed for 5 nights during March 2016 and loved this B&B. It's really a cross between a lovely, small boutique hotel and a relaxing, small bed and breakfast. Our room on the 2nd floor was very large by European standards. Very quiet; we didn't hear anyone else during our entire stay. Breakfast was very generous - cornetti, yogurt, juice,... More

My brothers and I stayed at the Ca' San Trovaso because of its excellent location (a quiet neighborhood somewhat removed from the tourist places) and because we prefer individualized service. We were more than satisfied on both counts. The rooms were lovely and so quiet. Alessandra provided wonderful ideas for restaurants. When it came time to leave late in the... More

A bit hard to find but worth it. The location is very convenient, but in a quiet area. There are gondola and vaporetto (water bus) stops within a short walk. Some excellent small restaurants are also nearby. The hosts will help with reservations. Katerina (not sure if we spelled her name correctly), one of the owners spent 40 minutes with... More

Ca San Trovaso is a lovely family-run hotel on a quiet canal a short walk from Campo San Barnaba and the Ca Rezzonico vaporetto stop in one direction and the Zattere in the other. Recently renovated, our room faced onto the Rio delle Romite canal and featured a large comfortable bed, breakfast table and a bathroom with rainshower. Room includes... More

My wife and I couldn't have been happier with this B&B. Our hosts were so accommodating, we felt like family. They gave excellent suggestions on where to dine and what to see and do. Not to mention they make one of the best cappuccinos I've ever had. The location of this inn is fantastic - a little off the beaten... More

Venice was the beginning of a 12 day cruise, where 23 family members embarked. We booked out all rooms in Ca San Trovaso, for four nights and enjoyed every moment spent three. The location was perfect, being AuGust it was heaving tourists, and the hotel provided a haven of peace and quiet, but still accessible to all requirements. Alessandra was... More

The location was wonderful. Very close to Accademia, St. Mark's Square and the Grand Canal. It was a boat ride and short walk from the airport. The overall trip was probably close to an hour or so. The trip to the local train station was about 45 minutes. The rooms were good size and the bathrooms were well updated. The... More

This lovely neighborhood B&B is far enough away from the crowds of San Marco Piazza, yet within a short walk of all major tourist attractions. Alessandra, the owner, is very helpful and knowledgable. We got lost on arrival, but called her and the next thing I knew she was waving to us from across the canal. She is all about... More

We stayed here four nights at the end of our three weeks in Italy so by the time we hit Venice we were just about exhausted. It's a lovely old house lovingly renovated, and impeccably kept. The owner/host is a charming woman who I would not mind having as a friend. The breakfast is ample and served in your room... More

We arrived and the owner was there to greet us. She was helpful with familiarizing ourselves of the City by giving us a map and recommendation on places to eat. The room was clean and they offered great breakfast.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
