July is a busy time in Venice, so it was a relief to come back to Ca’ San Trovaso after a long day of sightseeing among the crowds. The inn is tucked away on a quiet street, overlooking a canal, but is convenient to everything—including several vaporetto stops and the Accademia Bridge. Our room—while not large (this is Venice, after... More

Here is a delightful gem in the quiet Dorsoduro neighborhood of Venice. Just off of the Zattere and within easy reach of such important sites as the Accademia Museum, the Guggenheim and the Frari. And quite close to a vaparetto stop, which is very important. Off the beaten path, this is a calm enclave on a sweet, peaceful canal. The... More

We loved this place! This intimate hotel was perfect for us. We needed a triple room for my husband, son, and I. We had the room on the 1st floor by the front door and front desk. We initially worried that it would be loud but there were actually 2 doors between our room and the main area, purposely to... More

The location of Ca'San Trovaso was ideal for us a family of 4, just a couple hundred metres to the ACTV water transport no 2 making luggage transfer easy, and only a few hundred metres to the hustle bustle on the other side of ponte dell academia. It is located in a peaceful 'local' area with little tourist traffic by... More

My husband and I stayed here for just one short night as it was all the time we had in Venice. Alessandra was kind enough to make an exception for us as they have a 3 night minimum. The home is newly renovated and has everything you need. It is in a great location, easy walking distance to main attractions,... More

Awesome location, Allessandra is a good host who explains the places of venice to you nicely and also suggests the way to commute, The rooms are large/ lean and confy bed. The hotel is facing a small canal in Dorsuduro and a short walk will take you to Rialto Bridge, i found it easy to reach there based on info... More

We stayed in room 1 on the first floor which is the only room for 4. You can look out onto the canal. Our hosts were very helpful by giving us tips on restaurants, transportation and any info we needed. The hotel is immaculate. The room isn't big but we only slept there. The cappuccino is excellent and you can... More

Ca' San Trovaso is a small and well kept B & B in an area of Venice that is quaint and beautiful without being a tourist mob scene. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. When you walk out the front door, you know that you are in a unique place- with a small canal and well-preserved homes lining the canal.... More

We stayed four nights in May in this delightful B and B. Alessandra, one of the co-owners, was always charming and helpful, with a most winning smile. The decor of this three-storey house reflected this charm – well modernised with neat automatic lighting on the marble stairways to the bedrooms. These are large with good-sized, comfortable beds, a small table... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
