The accomodation was quite ok, no problem during the stay. They just charged significantly larger amount my card than on confirmed booking. The hotel accepted it was a mistake, but never credited it even reminded couple of times. Pay cash, it is not safe to use a card with them

Great value for money! 2 mins walk from San Marco. Clean. White bed linen and towels. Good sleep quality. We got room #105 which has queen size bed on first level and second level with another 2 single beds and cozy small balcony with 2 chairs - great place to relax with a glass of Prosecco after long day in... A few minutes walk from the Rialto stop of the water bus, close to the San Marco square. Old house with authentic decor. Family units available. Narrow steps, but not too bad. Very friendly staff. Breakfast with limited choice. Good value for money. Overall very good.

Good central position with easy access to St Marco, Rialto and the vaporetti. Clean room, friendly, helpful staff and decent breakfast. Less noisy than we expected given the address. Only negative was dragging heavy bags up flights of stairs but that is not uncommon in small hotels in Venice and the management did help some. Look carefully at the numbers... More

Really very nice and clean room, location is very important and this hotel is very good location just five minutes walking distance to San Marco. Many restaurants and delicious food. Hotel security system is good in fact all hotels like same type of security. Breakfast is very limited items but good.

We booked this hotel with Expedia weeks before our December 31st New Year's Eve visit and received a confirmation and itinerary number. We arrived with a confirmation from Expedia verified 2 days before. On arrival the receptionist said the reservation had been canceled by the manager. I called Expedia and confirmed our reservation but the hotel was fully booked. The... More

Dear guests, we are really sorry to have received this false review. We would like to make clear that, the guests have been never booked at our hotel, had just phoned to get information on the availability of a roo, but without confirming the booking with a credit card. Despite having no official booking, occurred equally at our hotel, any... More

Email how to get to this hotel from the train station or the airport! Location is ideal with Rialto Bridge and San Marco's Square only 3-4 mins. No lifts and lots of stairs so tough to get luggage up,

Do not stay here, this is nothing like advertised. It was dirty and the breakfast was appalling. I have been to Venice before and stayed in lovely but basic hotels this was the worst by far. Not even a clean glass in the room for a drink of water. The staff didn't speak or appear to care. Never going there... More

Very good location - less than 5min walk from Rialto Bridge and 10min walk from San Marco Square. Nice, clean and big room. Actually it is surprisingly nice since it is located in an old building with an almost unnoticeable door. However, breakfast is pretty bad for this price. Waitress during breakfast is a bit rude and constantly there is... More

I stayed at La Campana for two nights during my break in Venice. We were very well looked after by Zina and the rest of the staff at La Campana and had a very good night's sleep. The breakfast was nice and the location is ideal with many shops nearby and within a very short distance to San Marco's square.... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
