The location of this hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the train station and vaporetto stop yet it's on a quiet street. We were able to check in quickly and dropped off our bags and went out to explore. This saved us the hassle of carrying the luggage all over to look for the hotel like many tourists... More

Although we only stayed on night, I wish we could have stayed longer. Such a quaint place in an odd place. Down an ally that if you don't know is there you will miss it as we did. After asking for help we quickly found it. Such a cute place. I loved the balcony though didn't go out very much... More

Much can be cited in reviews about a hotel’s location, room & amenities, however it is the hotel’s staff that make the visit welcoming. The staff at Hotel Caprera is genuinely warm, friendly and welcoming, making this one of my most pleasant hotel stays anywhere. I checked-out at 9 AM and left my bag for pick-up later in the afternoon.... More

Stayed for 2 nights with family (including one 9 year old). The hotel is walking distance from the train station...though it certainly seemed more than the 200 mts on the hotel website. The person at the reception was very courteous and helpful. The room was very basic but spacious. It was good to see a big enough room. The WiFi... More

Hotel Caprera Venice is located only 200 meters from the main railway station and very near Canal Grande. Not all rooms have aircondition, but late seotember this was no problem, even as the weather was very nice (25-28 degrees during the days). My single-room was very small but very clean and with a small nice bathroom. The staff (and the... More

Let's get this out of the way first: Compared with the rest of Italy, Venice is overcrowded and overpriced! It's difficult to know how to rate this hotel then? It was by far the most expensive on our trip, and also the worst quality. However, I actually think we'd have had to spend a lot more to get any better... More

Great stay for the price in Venice. The staff was extraordinarily friendly and helpful. The rooms were very basic but clean and their was a private bath and free Wi-Fi. There was no air conditioning which was fine for us but might be a problem in the summer. Very close to train station which was nice. Breakfast was really good.... More

The Hotel Caprera is just minutes away from all the vaparetto stops and the train station. When coming in to Venive from the airport bus, just walk over the glass bridge, past the train station and keep going. It is a 5 minute walk. It is in a side alley off from the gift shops and restaurants. The hotel staff... More

We were there for 2 nights. The area is great. Well located. The only problem is that it is very noisy in the morning. If you like sleeping in, forget this. At 7am, max, you will be up... or at least awake. It is old, not modern at all but clean. As for the shower.... like in the old time.... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
