Lovely quaint traditional hotel it's centrally located in the city close to san Marco with a nice spacious rooms, reasonably priced the breakfast is next door in the sister hotel which was plentiful and varied the room is very hot but once we worked out how to turn heating off it was more comfortable agree with other reviewers tea/coffee making...

Great hotel to stay in if you want to be close to all the sights of Venice. 5 minute walk from San Marco Square but very quiet. Room was clean and well maintained, staff were friendly. The hotel provided a free courtesy tour of Morano and the glass factories with no pressure to buy. Only downside was there were no...

Be aware that a "standard" room in this hotel means you may have a connecting wall with another room. We could hear EVERYTHING the adjoining room was saying! So disappointing considering all the previous positive reviews. The attendant had nothing to offer us except "check back in the morning".

We stayed four nights here early May. It's was a reasonable deal taking into account the high cost of living in Venice. The location is excellent, close to the centre but also quiet. The room was clean and serviced daily. The only niggle was the heating, the room was very warm but we managed to turn it off in the...

Rooms are basic but big and clean. Staff at recepción is polite and willing to assist you. All in all, is a decent acommodation in...

This is a very good hotel and less than a 5 minute walk to San Marco Square. I believe it is affiliated with the Hotel Casa Verardo. CasaCasa Veratdo. Since you spend most of your time outside the hotel it is great.. Clean rooms and a good shower. Breakfast I an 8

The location was very close to St. Marc Square, the Rialto bridge, the dock to catch the vaporetta and good restaurants. The room was quite, roomy for 3 adults and very clean. It seemed secluded but was close to everything. There is an elevator that was needed by one of group to our 2nd floor room. Very good staff.

We loved staying at Lo Lacanderia. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. The room itself was clean and very comfortable. It is centrally located, you can walk (and we did) to everything you want to see. Breakfast was delicious. I would definitely stay here again (and again).

La Locandiera is in a great location close to St. Mark's Square and easily reachable by boat or taxi at San Zaccaria or Ponte de la Canonica stops. Since our last visit several years ago, it's been transformed from a stand-alone hotel with staff and breakfast room to an annex B&B of the nearby Casa Verardo Hotel. There is no...

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
