The Locanda Novo Hotel is bed and breakfast. A truly Venetian style accommodation. We were only in Venice for a few days, and had read the reviews of Locanda Novo, and hoped we did not get room 3, as that had got a negative review from a previous occupant. So to my horror on arrival we were given room 3!!!.... More

We used this hotel for our first stay in Venice and after paying a very small amount to stay here we was very impressed. We stayed in room 3 which meant we had a separate bathroom and had to eat our breakfast in the dining room. However, this was not a problem. The bathroom was solely for our room and... More

This is a very nice small hotel.Spotlessly clean and very well situated.in a lovely area of Canneregio.I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel run by very friendly people to anyone visiting Venice.I travelled on my own and found the vaporetto stop around the corner to be very useful.A lovely little piazza also around the corner also.Perfect for a nightcap.Very... This hotel is very old and has old world charm. It could do with a proper clean however was clean enough. Our room was tiny and our bathroom was down the hall. It was our own bathroom that we had a key to unlock however it was highly inconvenient to have to leave the room to use it. As our... More

We arrived by train to the Santa Lucia train station and caught the vapporetto in front of the station for a 10 minute ride along the Grand Canal to the Ca'd'Oro stop and a 5 minute walk to this B & B. It was easy to find; just off the Campo Apostoli. Like all of Venice Island, it is on... More

Stayed with 4 friends for 2 nights and would definitely recommend this hotel. The lady on reception was very nice and hospitable and went out of her way to help us with the trains. The Breakfast is nice and the place is very good value for money.

My girlfriend and I stayed here a week or so ago and were absolutely estatic with the service and room. Extremely helpful staff and very welcoming. Close to everything in Venice, could rate as a 3 star hotel no problems.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
