We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Locanda Novo....what can we say A*! Location is perfect, 5 min walk from the Rialto Bridge, quiet location just off of the main streets of Venice....a real gem of a hotel. Staff were fantastic, very helpful, rooms clean & the breakfast trays ideal to get you going for the day....

A hidden gem. It's like an ornate dolls house inside- exactly as we had hoped/ imagined. The photos you see online are a true representation and it's truly lovely. It's just a 1 min walk from the st apostoli water taxi drop off and it's only 10 mins walk from st marks. The staff are friendly & helpful and the...

This was a gem of a place, so central and relaxing. Having breakfast in our room at 8am meant we could explore Venice before the crowds arrived. Very comfortable and reasonably priced. We would certainly stay here again.

We arrived in Venice by speed boat and found the Locanda Nova quite easily, tucked away down a narrow side street and we were pleasantly surprised by this quaint hotel. Our room was situated at the top of this traditional Venetian building and after climbing the steep stairs, we were rewarded with a delightful view of the Venetian roof tops...

After some business in the area, we were looking to stay two nights in the old town of Venice. Locanda Novo had the cheapest room available that was in a hotel that still received good reviews. So we booked it. After we booked, it became clear we had booked "room 3" - the smallest room in the hotel, with a...

Air condition does not work and it's extremely hot in the room. Toilet does not flush and water gets all over the bathroom floor when shower is used. Everything else was good. Location is good. Room has a charm to it.

Location is excellent for visiting all the sights in Venice. We were in room 8 and it was huge! Loved having breakfast delivered to our room in the morning. Room very clean and lovely classic decor. Staff lovely and very kind to let us borrow a brolly during a heavy downpour. Great little hotel.

We read reviews on TripAdvisor of this place when we were here, and thankful we didn't get room number 3! Fortunately we were in room number 6 which is located on the first floor. There are steep steps, which are even steeper to the 2nd floor so just keep that in mind if you have a lot of luggage. However,...

The hotel has a very central location and isn't too hard to find even though it is down a little street, make sure you search it on maps first though! We had a very small room with a separate bathroom, the hotel inside was typically Venetian with plenty of Murano chandeliers. The hotel doesn't have a TV but we literally...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
