This hotel is central to everything - Hard Rock Cafe and gondola stop - 2 min walk. St marks square - 2 minute walk. Rialto bridge and grand canal - 10 minute walk max The rooms are very dated but we do not mind - good size room and a nice roof top dining room and terrace to eat breakfast....

The hotel is in a wonderful location just a couple minutes walk to piazza San Marco and Teatro la fenice. But still feels private and quiet. The room was very clean and comfortable, the staff was friendly and helpful, there's a cute rooftop terrace, and breakfast is included. It can be a little tricky to find and keep in mind...

We decided to stay 2 nights before our cruise & wanted somewhere 'mid-range'. Finding it is tricky but trust google maps!! The entrance is literally a door with a tiny sign... The hotel starts on the 4th floor, 82 steps to our room, our key was waiting for us at reception but no human. The room was spacious, cool &...

This was a superb hotel right in the very heart of Venezia. 1min away from Piazza San Marco, but still a calm location to sleep. And very good prices in a tourism driven city where tourist part easily from their money. Highly recommend this wonderful hotel! Good solid quality rooms, great breakfast on roof terrace and absolutely wonderful helpful personnel....

We loved this place! It's located on a beautiful small street close to St. Marks. The location was fantastic. We arrived and Giacommo greeted us and helped us get our bags up the stairs (no elevator) and had nice cold glasses of water waiting for us. He was so nice and helpful our entire stay. The AC felt great in...

This hotel is in the perfect location and yes, it is in a thirds story with no elevator but the staff is always there to help with luggage or shopping to carry up and down. The dinning room is amazing with an incredible view and breakfast is delicious. I strongly recommend staying in this hotel.

We are here now. Entrance is awful three story walk up and you walk into a dungeon. Room they gave us not at all as pictured. It is clean, but the picture make it look much better than it is. Air conditioning barely works. Location is great, but you can do better. Do not stay here.

From the outside this does not look like an Hotel, but when you get up the stairs its okey. The staff here are very friendly and helpfull. We got the room on top in the end of the hall. It was big and clean. There was a funny smell there for a little while, but with AC and opening some...

My friend and I stayed at Locanda Antica Venezia for 3 nights from 18.05.16 - 21.05.16. We booked a Standard Double Room. Transfer I had read a few reviews saying that the hotel is quite difficult to find so we had thoroughly researched our route from the airport before hand. We flew into Treviso airport where we took the bus...

We spent two nights at Locanda Antica Venezia. The location of the hotel is perfect, few minutes from San Marco square and Piazza but was very difficult to find. The hotel was on the 3rd floor and there was no assistance in bringing luggage up the stairs. Breakfast just cereal, jam, cakes, crossaint, coffee and tea..

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
