We recently stayed at this hotel and found the place very quiet, relaxing, and very clean. Handy for the old part of Venice shops and eating out etc. We stayed when St. Marks square was flooded and due to the fact the hotel is slightly higher above ground than the main square we only saw a little dro of water...

Tucked away in a very quiet but central quarter of Venice, our 4 night stay was pleasant but cramped. Then again, you don't go to Venice to stay in your hotel room! The room itself was tiny but reasonably comfortable and clean. We were on the 3rd floor and had a view over the canal behind the hotel which gave...

A nice quiet and peaceful location away from tourist track but nevertheless close to all points of interest. Shops, restaurants and bars nearby. We had a rather small room but a fantastic view on an inside canal. There's also this small but cosy roof terrace where we had a bottle of wine bought at the hotel's bar. Breakfast is typical...

My room was like sleeping in a closet! Teeny tiny room with a twin bed that certainly was not a standard size but more like child size. I am 5'3" so heaven help anyone taller! The 'courtyard view' was basically a wall and the staff were needlessly rude. Never again.

The room was clean, but very run down. The shower was a little moldy. The hotel could use to be completely renovated. The staff was hit or miss. There was an older gentleman that was extremely rude and a younger one that was much nicer. The breakfast was lacking in choices. The air conditioning was terrible. It barely worked. The...

Can't find fault with this place. Great helpful staff always friendly and around to help. Very clean and tidy decor, all nice and smart. Brilliant location close to all the main attractions with water bus stop near by. Our room was just a standard with no view. We were expecting it to be very small and basic. Actually it was spacious...

Prior to booking this hotel my fiance and I read very mixed reviews. So it was with a litle apprehension that we booked this hotel. But we were not disappointed. The location was fantastic. Central to everything but tucked enough away to be very quiet. We purchased vaporetta tickets to use during our 4 day stay. But we could also...

This hotel is a real find. Good location in the Cannaregio a short walk to the Ca' d'Oro vaporetto stop. A quiet room overlooking the canal (we're glad we paid extra for the view) with a firm comfortable bed. Service was fine. We had a late flight out and they had no problem storing our luggage for us. Breakfast was...

This hotel is in a very good location. Just barely off the main route and close to everything. It was an excellent value for the price. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. The staff was helpful and answered all my questions. I would definitely stay here again.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
