Very nice reception area. The staff on the desk were not particularly polite or interested but functional. Room was small and stuffy and the aircon was only controlled by the front desk for some reason. Also when it was on it was very loud. Breakfast was adequate but not amazing. Nice croissants and the serving staff very good. Overall not... More

Stayed here one night as a stop off whilst interrailing, as it was a good price for such a central location (2 mins walk from the train station). Hotel lobby and corridor is far nicer than expected from the outside, actually quite impressive as we walked down the corridor to leave our luggage as we couldn't check in until a... More

Very close to the train station, which was what we wanted. Not terribly fancy, but it's on the Grand Canal, and an easy walk to the train and the canal launches/tours. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and it's not bad if you can get past the "early Bordello" decor. (I suppose it's a nod to the "Belle Epoque" of... More

The hotel is very very very near to Santa Lucia train station. The hall of the hotel is very nice as well as the decoration. The staff were good. The check in was not accepted before 14:00. We were obliged to put our luggages in an Uncontrolled area where all travellers are putting their baggages !! The room was nice... More

The hotel is a very easy walk from the station. Plenty of shops etc around. Check in was fine, and bags can be left if early. The room we got was large, and very nicely decorated. Breakfast was nice, although at busy times can feel cramped. Staff were very helpful, even late at night. Would stay again.

The hotel is really well located, only a few minutes walk to the train station and the Grand Canal, with easy access to restaurants and a little market for goods. The staff were mostly helpful. Unfortunately, the room was not as good as the rest of the hotel appeared to be. The room itself was tiny and we couldn't fully... More

Stayed for 3 nights as a couple. The hotel is lovely. Very friendly lady (brown hair and yellow glasses) who greeted us and was always very polite and helpful. Hotel very unique and adds to your Italian experience. Breakfast is simple but fine. A little crowded at the buffet (in peak season) as it is served in a small area.... More

We stayed here for 1 night, arriving early, and leaving late the next day. When we arrived in Venice, we were able to leave our bags securely at the hotel, as we were too early to check-in. Hotel is a great location, we arrived by bus, so the walk was not too far and was direct. Very easy with luggage.... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
