I recently stayed at the Hotel Belle Epoque for two nights (July 4th/5th) and was very pleased with the Hotel. The location is central to shopping, the beach, restaurants and public transit. The Hotel is clean, quiet and has everything you need (comfortable bed, spaceous room, AC, etc.). The staff are soooo friendly, I believe it is a Family who... More

We have just spent two nights in hotel Belle Époque which as part of a two week tour around Northern Italy. Belle Époque is a three star hotel officially but we had the worse stay there. The hotel staff are rude and barely say a word unless you ask a question and even then there's a real lack of communication.... More

Hotel has a wonderful venetian charm especially in the decor. Its clean, quiet and the breakfast is average although the breakfast room is really beautiful.I found the reception staff to be really rude and not welcoming at all but they are not the only rude people we encountered during our stay in Venice.Other than that this hotel is great and located near... Here's the deal. You're going to see Venice. So, if you're looking for a t.v. or a lot of space, stay home. I'm confused by the complaints about European hotel rooms and size as not everyone in the world requires tons of space. Get a grip. My husband and I stayed one night prior to our cruise. We found the... More

Firstly, you should be aware that the TV in the room is a 9 inch TV from approximately 1980, which tells you a lot about the standards at this hotel. The bed is a little soggy, and the air conditioning gurgles most of the time ,a surprisingly disconcerting sound. I think that this hotel, overall, is overpriced, but the main... More

We spent a few days there. Nice little hotel. Very good location. Some of the staff did not speak English. Small restaurant but very nice. Around the hotel there are several nice restaurants and pizzerias.

We reserved a double standard room for a very high price for a Friday night stay (haven't seen it at our price since, much much lower). We arrived on the train from Florence and checked in after 11 pm. We were given a true key, non-electronic card, to a room litterally in the ATTIC of the hotel. They have an... More

The location is good near to all kinds of transportation. Wi Fi and breakfast are good. Rooms are O.K. except some rooms are very very small ( room 401) . Housekeeping is good. When I arrived the safe was not working and they fixed it next day because after 2 PM there was no one resident in hotel to fix... More

Upon walking in, the unfriendly lady at the reception said they had to give our room to someone else who wasn't leaving the hotel. Since this was unacceptable to us, she accommodated. We were put in 1st floor room where the tv, telephone and a/c didn't work. When we opened the window in the bathroom for air, it fell off... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
