This is in a brilliant location, minutes away from San Marco and the Rialto bridge. Also very quiet at night. When we got there we were impressed with our room, however on closer inspection there were several things that needed fixing, such as the shower door which was about to come off or the taps that needed fixing. The air... More

Although this small hotel is centrally located and is clean, the management was unable to solve a serious problem. We had no working toilet for the two nights we were there. We notified the management as soon as possible. No one was there when we arrived at 7:00 in the evening, so we had to wait until the morning. Nothing... More

This hotel / B & B was a great central location for anyone travelling to Venice. Easy to get to by taking the number 2 water bus to the Rialto bridge and a short walk to the accommodation. At €7.50 per trip on the water bus, we suggest you purchase the 24 or 48hr ticket that allows you to use... More

Very close to the major tourist spots. The desk was unmanned when I arrived and it took me quite a while to find my room -- hidden on a half floor. Room is clean, spacious and quiet. Everything is great except for the wifi and mattress. While the other rooms are located on the second floor along with the lobby... More

A charming boutique hotel just a few minutes walk from St Marks Square. , The Rialto and Main Venice attractions . The rooms are small but comfortable . Bathrooms are a bit cramped but clean . There is complimentary wifi and breakfast and a tea service which is a thoughtful addition . Very few rooms and reception is manned only... More

Hotel is really central laid back and well maintained. But the real plus is the staff. Incredibly helpful lady front of house who couldn't do enough for you. It makes your break so much more enjoyable.

10 minutes walk with bags from the taxi dock, unfortunately the hotel was unmanned and the door entry system not working which took a few phone calls and 30 minutes to resolve and gain entry! However it is in a great location, very small - about 6 rooms - so desk not always manned if you prefer that sort of... More

This hotel is super cute. It can be a bit hard to find, even using google maps, but it's worth it. The room is large and breakfast is provided the staff is great at recommending different places to eat, visit, things to do, etc. The staff does leave about 6 or 7pm at night so if you get locked out... Beautiful small hotel in a wonderful location in Venice. We stayed here in March for 3 nights and had a great time. The staff are very helpful and recommended some great sights, restaurants and trips. The hotel is very comfortable and quaint in style. I would definitely stay here again and I will highly recommend to my family and friends.

Lovely comfortable accommodation (especially the 4-poster bed) but still reflecting the historic nature of Venice, very civilised breakfast arrangements in charming surroundings, and the most thoughtful, helpful and cheerful hostess in the form of Ecaterina (please forgive me if I spelt that wrong) - she really added to the enjoyment of our stay. It was a complete delight and I... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
