Our family of 5 stayed for 3 great nights at the Moresco. The hotel is an easy walk from the train station and this should not be underestimated in Venice where walking is everything. The walk to Rialto and St Marks is wonderful or the vaporetto stop at Piazzale Roma is very close by. The rooms we had were well...

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for two nights. The hotel was only a 10 min walk away from the train station. We were greeted with a very friendly welcome, glass of prosecco and some lovely brioche, we were able to relax while the staff finished we booking in process. Our room was fantastic, canal view which was spotlessly clean...

Everything was just perfect in Hotel Moresco: from the room to the friendly staff, the complementary snack buffet every evening and the cappucino at breakfast buffet. My boyfriend proposed in this hotel, and the staff had organized roses and decorations on the room, just perfect! I would never go anywhere else next time I am in Venice.

When choosing a hotel in Venice there is a compromise that needs to be considered as a result of the complete prohibition of motor vehicles in the city. You can a) choose a hotel close the major attractions around St. Marks’ Square which will be convenient during your stay but possibly difficult when considering getting heavy suitcases through the city,...

We booked this hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and we were very, very happy we chose Hotel Moresco as our place to stay in Venice. We loved the hotel. It is a small boutique hotel, providing wonderful service. Our room was spacious, very clean and very quiet. But the staff really make this hotel - they are so gracious,...

We booked the Moresco Hotel based on reviews in TripAdvisor. It did not disappoint. In fact it exceeded expectations. Hospitality is there number one priority. For example, each night there was a happy hour with complimentary homemade appetizers - a great way to meet fellow travelers. Upon our arrival our room was not ready, so complimentary drinks and food were...

Exceptional service, cozy lounge, excellent breakfast, very quiet rooms with big windows opening onto a garden...a first rate experience that exceeded expectations. Staff arranged two boat tours, one guided and one not, on short notice. Very helpful and accommodating.

We cannot fault this hotel. Friendly staff, luxurious rooms and quiet location - 5 min walk from the bus station. The view from our top-floor room was limited, and the wi-fi was iffy, but every other detail was fine. Not a budget hotel, but if you feel you deserve a little luxury you can chose this with confidence.

Just excellent hotel. Nicely appointed. Quiet. Short walk from train and bus station, and therefore dead easy to get from airport. Outstanding staff. Great food. Would definitely return there. It's also a reasonable, and interesting, walk from the very touristy areas. Out of the way, but not too much. Couldn't hope for better.

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
