Me and my girlfriend had a wonderful time here, despite our fears that a low-budget hotel could offer good services. It was warm, safe, clean and friendly. We came to this hotel after we had the most unpleasant experience with the owner of another hotel (Caneva). You can read my review over there. Actually, I had the same problem with... More

Stayed there for 2 days with family. A very basic room with attached bathroom. There was scarcity of plugpoints. No kettle in room. And welcome the mosquitoes to spend the night with you! Price was ok but not quite money's worth. Location is the one plus point of this property with Santa Lucia station a short walk away.

The location of the hotel is very convenient if you are leaving early morning as you don't need to wait for a vaporetto and you can walk to the bus station. The prices are fair compared to other hotels. We stayed in a triple room with shared bathroom, our room was spacious and we had a small balcony, our room... More

I am not someone who complains. I knew this place was cheap for Venice, and I was prepared for it to be basic. I was not, however, prepared for the rudeness and low standard of service that I received here. When we first arrived, the receptionist asked for our passports while checking us in. When he handed us our key,... More

Very satisfied with my stay. It was what i expected and more.....yes it's basic, it is priced low. The bed was comfortable, the room clean with maid service. I had a room on the third floor with a terrace, shared bathroom and toilet. The bathroom and toilet was cleaned every morning and i never had to wait for the shower.... More

My friend and I was very positively surprised by this place! We looked around a lot before booking this, and it easily beat many other places. Very good price for such an amazing location, too. The room was in the building across the street from the check-in, but no problem there. There was shared bathrooms, but as there was only... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
