I stayed for 3 nights at this B&B. The location is great. It took me only 10 minutes to walk from San Marco square where the carnival action was. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The lady at the reception helped me with my costume, printed my boarding pass and gave me many tips. There is a corner in my...

The staff stayed late to let us in as we had a late arrival. Very friendly and courteous. The room (the Casanova room) we felt, was kitschy, but by the time we left were in love with it. The location is perfect, very close in but out of the way. A little hard to find but the directions are good....

My partner and I spent fours night in the Sogno room during the December holidays. We were provided with helpful directions to the hotel, as well as fairly easily decipherable instructions relative to our time of arrival - our key was to be left on the reception desk for collection. We found the hotel after getting lost for a comparatively...

After reading many, many reviews on Tripadvisor, I booked this B&B based on the good reviews about location, cleanliness, price and service. However, I didn't exactly get what I expected. One of the big points was that many nice things were written about Elizabetta and staff being so helpful. Unfortunately, I never even met her. Also, when I was making...

Hi all, Stayed here with my partner at the time in February 2008. Checked hotel via Expedia and then booked via their website direct. Found them to be very friendly from the enquiry, to the arrival and the departure. Stayed for 5 nights and found the value to be very good. As I am from South Wales, booked flights from...

We stayed here for 3 nights in March The hotel is located on a quiet street about 5 mins walk from St.Marks Square and 5 mins walk from Rialto Bridge. If your searching for this hotel when you arrive in Venice then the one thing I would say is take the buidling number as its not really well sign posted...

I spent 4 nights in this hotel with my partner and we stayed in the Zefiro room. The best way to the hotel is to take the waterbus from Marco Polo airport and then walk from San Marco, it costs around 13 euros each and was a pretty easy journey although a bit long (1 hour 40 min on the...

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for our honeymoon in August 2007. We had a fantastic time and this hotel was perfect. We stayed in the Casanova suite with its romantic canopied bed and enjoyed the breakfast brought to us every morning by Madame. Madame was always cheerful and willing to offer advice. This hotel is also very...

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
