We were only staying here for one night but were arriving late. The hotel was very accommodating and gave clear instructions. The hotel room was very Venetian and the location was great - very close to the square with all the restaurants and bars. Venice itself is very expensive so i'd recommend going to a restaurant slightly further back from... More

Lovely little hotel/B&B in a good location in Venice. Make sure you look at the directions on the website on how to get there. Great host and a cute little room except the double bed was very small and was uncomfortable for 2 people. Definitely not a North American size double. If you're larger than normal it won't work. The... More

Stayed two days with my wife early April 2016. Great location and interesting place. Clean, reasonably priced and would recommend. First thing I would say though is many thanks to a previous reviewer who stressed making sure you have the directions supplied on the hotels website. Venice is the easiest place to get lost in I have ever been, so... More

Lovely clean hotel. We had a family room and only used it to shower and sleep so was more than adequate. Comprised of a double bed and two singles. TV available in the room. Free wifi with great connection. Nice and clean. Friendly staff. Perfect location.

Elisabetta is a warm and friendly host. The room we had was small (as advertised, can’t complain) but the bathroom was quite large. Bed was small, haven’t slept in a small double for quite some time. The location of the B&B is great, right in San Marco, 5 minutes walk from St Marks. Internet is free and good. Fortunately the... More

Having spent a week in Venice for valentines, I found the hotel to meet most of our needs; it was comfortable, warm, clean and quiet with an average size bathroom and Venetian decor. We found the hotel from Rialto bridge using google maps. It was an easy walking distance. The staff are very accommodating - cleaning the room once we... More

The hotel is near Rialto and St.Angelos vaporetto stop, and a 10' walk from St Marcos square , in a quite street. Our room, 106, was small with a hidden window,so I wouldn't recommend this room, unless you are unable to go up the stairs. It was clean, warm, with very hot water, confortable big bed and great Wi-fi. The breakfast was typical continental, next time I... More

Positives: Great location to everything Cosy, comfortable room Reasonable price Be sure to have the directions on how to get there. All of Venice is a bit if a maze and all places are a bit tricky to find the first time. Would stay again.

We stayed at Casa Fenice for four nights. The hotel is close to the San Marcs - we recommend mapping out how to get there the first time as we got lost (Do not use Google Maps as it takes you to the wrong location). The breakfast is great, the receptionist is very nice and always gave us great recommendations... More

We stayed at Casa Fenice for three nights in July. The hotel is on a small, quiet, safe street, away from the hustle and bustle. We were greeted by the owner / receptionist who was great. She was very helpful in giving us recommendations for the surrounding area. We only saw her between the hours of 8 and midday, so... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
