Despite its great location on Canal Grande this hotel dissapoints by the poor Management: we could hardly eat any of the breakfast items which were stale or poor quality so we had to go to cafe nearby; smell in the room was horrendous and the furniture dated and dirty; bathroom minuscule shower cabin not working lacking toiletries; living room TV... My husband and I recently spent two nights at the Foscari Palace hotel in Venice. The hotel is historic, but the rooms, lobby, etc are all very nice! Our room was large, well decorated, with large bathroom with jet tub. The breakfast is amazing! Very large selection of really nice breakfast items. The only thing missing is decaffeinated cappuccino. The... More

The tour (we took the special tour they have for the Regata Storica) was just ok. Due to the regata, however, we could not see (the floating platform obsured most of the view from the ground floor, and also from the top floor). We also could not exit onto the terrace, which was very disappointing. I didn't care for the... More

We really enjoyed our stay as the setting was on the Grand Canal itself and the hotel is an historic building. It is very well located right next to Ca' d'Oro vaporetto stop on the canal and is also near to the Rialto Bridge. Our room was comfortable and well decorated and everything the walls, floor and sink in bathroom... More

The room is huge! And the toilet is huge! Side note, the toilet has no anti slipped mat and it became slippery after a few shower so please be careful. We didnt opt for a room with a view and didnt mind. We sat out at the patio overlooking the canal instead and look at the hot italian guys on... More

Hotel, clean nice concierge great. Breakfast on the front terrace great. Hidden gem...fabulous surprise was the dinner/ evening boat cruise on the Grand canal. An experience not to be missed...great way to cap off visit! The dinner on their private rooftop terrace worth the price of €40/person alone! Cruising on a private boat along the grand canal in the evening,... More

I would definately come back to this hotel if I decided to travel to Venisia again. I already recommanded it to one of my workmate last week. It contributed to a very nice trip. Knowing you walk a lot in this town, it is very important to be able to get some good sleep.

When we decided on a visit to Venice I was adamant I wanted a canal view with french windows and a hotel with a jetty so that we could transfer from the airport on one of the lovely traditional wood motor boats. The reception staff were extremely helpful and we managed both wishes. The hotel is an old venetian palace... More

The hotel is very nice, and very good service. Highlights are breakfast out the front watching the world go by on the Grand Canal!! (Not always available) And the roof top terrace is lovely with fab views. We took the offered dinner and boat trip one evening offered by the hotel, and it was fantastic. 40 euros each. The food... Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
