Casa Sant'Andrea is a basic hotel, we stayed in a 3 person room which consisted of a double bed and a single bed, a chest of drawers, a wardrobe and a desk. The room whilst basic was immaculately clean with high ceilings and a spacious feeling, the windows opened out onto a lovely view of the canal. The shared bathroom... More

We booked the hotel for one night before we left for a cruise. It is very close to where the bus from the airport dropped us off and very close to the people mover that took us to the cruise port. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. We had our own bathroom. As others have said it... More

When it has to say Private En Suite. I booked a quadruple room here that clearly stated EnSuite but was told when I arrived that it was a shared bathroom. This was disturbing as my family refuses to stay in rooms where the bathroom is out in the hall. Fortunately, I had booked another room with a bath in the... More

Booked this hotel because it was not too far from the cruise port and easily reached from the people mover. Great location for all transport links, although a fair way from St Marks Square, the waters bus stops are very close to hotel (nearest only 20 metres away), so proximity of hotel was not a problem for us. Piazale Roma... More

This hotel is in a great location - 5-10 mins walk from the train station and very close to the water transport. There is a supermarket very close which is great. Our room was large and had a great single bathroom which is not the case in all rooms as per other reviews. The wifi worked well. The rooms are... More

The hotel is pleasant and the room is comfortable. The room cleaning service is very good! The breakfast is very good too! The problem is the wifi signal that is not available in the rooms (at least it was not in mine) and poor in the hallway. And the location is near to the main train station but far from... More

The hotel was in a good location I thought, away from the busy San Marco square and the canals in the area were a lot cleaner than the busier parts of Venice. It was quite easy to navigate yourself around Venice with the water bus just 2 minutes away. The staff were very nice especially the younger girl that works... More

Out-dated but it's Venice. If you like modern and new don't visit Venice at all! Good location, water bus stop right out front and supermarket around the corner. Close to some lovely restaurants. All the staff were very helpful and friendly, gave us a map and circled points of interest and let us know how to get around. We were... More

The staff were friendly. It's in a very convenient location if you are traveling by train or bus. The issues we experienced were mainly because of other guests. The bathroom situation on the second floor is rough. It is a single restroom for several rooms. One shower stall and one toilet all in the same area. This means if there are... More

We stayed at Casa Sant'Andrea on the way back from an Adriatic Cruise. The greatest thing about this hotel is its excellent location. It's only a few blocks from the Roma plaza where we came in on the People Mover from the port. This meant we didn't have to pay storage on our bags at the Plaza, but could pull... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
