Great hotel on one of the channels. It is a good location for getting to the cruise ports. Rooms are quiet and nice with a very large modern bathroom. They offer a good selection at breakfast which consisted of fresh fruit, pastries, cereals and juices. The breakfast was a good way to start the day. The hotel staff is friendly...

As we had a fair amount of baggage, were arriving by car or bus and flying to the Americas afterwards on a very early flight, we spent time looking for a suitable place for 4 nights. In Venice, or close to the airport? 3 nights in Venice, 1 at the airport, or all in Venice? Where in Venice? After realizing...

Palazzo Odoni is a lovely hotel in a charming part of Venice. It is walking distance from the train station / Piazza Roma but is a little hard to find the first time (no obvious signage as has been noted before). Once inside though, and up the stairs, it is a little oasis. Rooms are very clean and comfortable and...

My husband and I stayed at Palazzo Odoni for one night prior to a cruise. We chose this hotel as it is close to Piazzale Rome which is a bus stop from the airport and people mover to the port. It was approx. 5 minutes walk from the hotel to Piazzale Rome. We also walked to Piazza San Marco which...

Palazzo Odoni doesn't have obvious signage, but the address is specific. It has a lovely entrance with a beautiful terrace. The steps, totaling 4 flights, had pretty candles marking the steps. Our room was on the main floor close to quaint & nice breakfast. Room was clean with Venetian decor, sitting area, and full bathroom. So convenient to Pal.Roma, Railway...

We stayed on a superior room (room 22) last month... room was OK - not great and far from pictures in the website. Bathroom was great! Room did not have any noise around. Location was ok and as expected - as closed to Piazza Roma as advertised, no complains on that part. I did not feel the "romantic" side that...

We, family of four, stayed for two nights in the beginning of our European holiday. The room is lovely with jacuzzi and balcony. Location is perfect. It's a short walk from Piazzale Roma which is the last stop of airport shuttle bus. Close to Grand Canal water bus station. Train station is about 15 minutes walk. Staff is helpful and...

I found this to be a nice surprise. Wasn't my first choice when looking through websites in Venice but found it to be quality and very pleased I stayed here. I'm a well travelled early middle aged traveller enjoy my quality, style, privacy, and service. I stayed in the room next to the canteen and found no sound problems as...

No surprise, we got what we expected and paid for. It's close to the train station and cruise terminal. The room was simple but nice and clean and the bed comfortable. The breakfast was small but good. The service was great. Honestly apart from all the steps hidden behind the door of the hotel (quite tough) there is nothing bad...

Stayed at the Palazzo Odini in August for two nights prior to a cruise. Took the bus from the airport and the hotel was a very short walk thus saving a very expensive water taxi ride. Hotel is in a quiet part of Venice away from major crowds but easy walk to everything. Arrived at night and the courtyard was...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
