We stayed for two night during the Venice carnival in late January. The location is truly awesome when you arrive by bus from the airport. The P.dela Roma is only 5min walking. Very useful when you come later in the nightor have to leave early in the morning. The hotel is very clean. We had room at the 3rd floor... More

We thought breakfast was included but unfortunately not. There did not appear to be anywhere to have breakfast so other reviews stating it was included were confusing. There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room and the wi-fi is a little hit or miss. However, the staff were very friendly and there are some great bars and... More

I could not believe how terrible this stay was. The once posting was breakfast, which was nice and served by a king woman. As for the room: There were flies constantly buzzing around our room all night. This wasn't helped by the loud bar that is located directly below and goes til late in the night. To top it all... This charming little bed and breakfast located very close to the San Marco Bus Station and the new modern bridge is easy for first timers to Venice to find - which is a blessing in what can first seem like an incredibly confusing city to maneuver around. The rooms are cheap and cheerful as compared to many a hotel or... More

wonderful location to soak in Venice Ambiance. Professional hospitality. The breakfast was adequate and prepares you to explore the city for the day. Use this as a base to experience Venice. If you are looking for a luxury stay this is not the place

We stayed for just one night two days ago. The location is really closer to the train station and the really cool Campo Santa Margherita in which students drink their Spritz (a tipical north italian drink with white wine and Aperol). The room was clean and neat and the bed was comfortable. We choose a room with shared bathroom and... More

Good location, inside the city. There is an excellent restaurant next door. The staff is very sweet and nice. Room is small, a bit claustrophobic because of the short ceiling. Small bathroom, as expected in this kind of hotel in Europe. Very clean. A good deal for the price.

This is a budget hotel, remember that. The Location is good, but that's about all it has to recommend itself. The rooms are small but decent for Europe, and could use more recent updates. The bed, closet and shower seem like something from 1910. There is no TV(!!) so our recurring joke there was, "lets head back to the hotel... More

We stayed for two nights in September 2014. The location is within easy walking distance to the tourist attractions, and the train station. There are cafes everywhere and a bakery next door. The room was clean and neat and the bed was comfortable.

This more like a pensione. Some rooms have their own bathrooms. Ok breakfast, nothing special...very typical of Italy. Rolls and coffee. Staff is very nice. Rooms are not tiny. They are clean. On a relatively quiet street so you can catch up on sleep if you need to. We found a porter who brought us directly to the albergo so... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
