What an amazingly wonderful surprise! We were in Venice only two nights, but were happy with everything about the hotel, including ease of getting to/from, proximity to everywhere we wanted to see, the food, but in particular, the service was unbelievably accommodating, and we went away with not only priceless memories, but new friends (the hotel staff) who went way...

As others have mentioned, Gianni, the Reception Manager, is terrific. After spending a week in Switzerland where hotel staff were pleasant but not friendly, having a personal greeting from Gianni was so welcome. Throughout our stay, the desk staff and the housekeeper were wonderful. My daughter was sick the first day and everyone was very helpful and inquired about her....

Lovely hotel, was attending a conference in Venice and staff were helpful and friendly from the moment I rang with a query. Stayed in a standard room which, like the rest of the hotel ,was immaculately clean. It was also nicely furnished and very comfortable; the bathroom had a marble floor and chandalier wall lights. The toiletries smelled of fresh...

We stayed here twice this month. The hotel is about 200 yards from the Piazzale Roma along the Grand Canal. Drag your bags over two bridges. Our accommodations were very comfortable, with good air conditioning a must in July! Breakfasts were OK. The staff happily made us all capuccinos each morning. We enjoyed sitting outside the hotel having a drink...

We stayed at the Hotel Antiche Figure two days prior a cruise departure and one day after the cruise. We came in before the normal check in time and they gave us a room with little or no wait both times. We are extremely thankful because the first day we had jet lag and were very tired. Throughout our stay...

We just returned from our European holiday and had a nice 2 days in Venice thanks to Hotel Antiche Figure. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean and the staff was very accommodating. Beware that the wall are extremely thin and you can hear your neighbors. The AC worked really well, and we used it often due to the incredible...

Stayed from July 21 to 24 at Room 414 and loved it. Three minute walk from Venice's Main Train Station on the other side of the canal. Very nice and modern rooms, good breakfasts and free internet with a PC for guests use. Staff are super friendly and treated us like family. One of the best hotels I've been in...

I can't review the hotel because they booked my reservation for August instead of July but they ended up putting me in the Sofitel hotel around the block (a little farther walk but a very nice hotel). Carlo was extremely nice and apologetic and walked me over to the hotel. I would have liked to have stayed at the Antiche...

We just got back from a weekend stay at the Hotel Antiche. The hotel is charming and the rooms are very nicely decorated. The location is excellent! its about 5-7 min walk to the Santa Lucia Train station. Avoid taking a water taxi from the airport to the hotel. Its crazy expensive. Just take the ATVO bus. the ticket machines...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
