we found this hotel very easily. It was very close to the train terminal. Easy walk. The hotel was old. The room was old. But they completely updated the bathrooms. It was modern and stylish. Very nice. It was close to everything. Just a short walk to everything. The grand canal, the Rialto bridge. Many, many restaurants to chose from....

Great location, friendly staff. However, we were put in the attic room, and both being 6 foot tall, continually banged our heads on the very low beams. Pillows were extraordinarily hard - I've never known anything like it. Mattress was like a camp bed and super lumpy. On the second night when they made our bed they took the blanket...

Loved this hotel! It certainly didn't look or feel budget. Beautiful decor, beautiful rooms. It's in a great location but far enough off the path to have a quiet place to recover. The soundproofing was good on the rooms and the breakfast room was very nice and had plentiful seating. The beds were a bit firm, but still comfortable. I...

Nice little hotel in the heart of Venice. Just 5 minutes walking distance from the train station. Very close to the canal and boat-stop to the airport. The room was very compact with nice little bathroom. The breakfast was nice, but not too many options though. The staff are very nice. There's free wifi in the hotel with good connection.

Near to train station (5 min walk), good location, wifi is powerful, clean bed. the bad thing is the hotel does not have lift and the breakfast is very simple but enough for starting the day. Reception employees are very kind and helpful.

We stayed in room 42 which is out in the garden. The room was spotless, quiet, cozy, and perfect. Bed was comfy, with plenty of space to walk in the room, hang clothes, and not trip over the suitcases. Towel warmer was a real treat! Breakfast was typical hard boiled eggs, bread, meats, cheese, yogurt, cold cereal, juice, and coffee...

Hello, we recently stayed at the Villa Rosa during our stay in Italy. What a cute little gem! It was close walking distance from the train station and one block in from the main walking street. Super convenient yet far enough so it wasn't noisy. The rooms that we saw were all recently remodeled and very nicely done. Each one...

We loved our 2 night stay and wish we had had longer.... Venice is a beautiful city and if we get back there I would be happy to stay at Hotel Villa Rosa.... it's a small, cheerful and good value, it's not fancy, but it's ckean, tidy and has everything you need.

This is a reasonably priced hotel with easy access to train station and water taxi. If you arrive by train, you will be pleased with its location, not needing to drag your luggage on the cobblestone street and bridges. Staff is very friendly. Our room is modern, looks like recently renovated. There is no elevator and stairway is narrow. We...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
