Friendly staff, lovely room, quiet area. Not far from Piazza Roma with only a couple of bridges to carry your suit cases over, so handy for the shuttle bus to the airport. The owner and staff are extremely friendly and helpful? Handy for some nice restaurants.

What a fantastic place! Great location, small and nice room. We had breakfast on the roof terrace where we were served a nice breakfast by the lady running the B&B. She is very friendly and welcoming. Good and clean room. Small coffe places, icecream shops and restaurants just around the corner.

The place is a short walk from the bus and train stations which is handy when you arrive. It is about 30-45 minutes walk to St Marks Square and the main attractions. The boats are closer. There is a square nearby (San magherita with an excellent gelato place (il Doge)) and it is a short walk to a great cheap... More

We just recently stayed at the Ca'della Corte for the second time and it won't be the last. It is a lovely unpretentious place, quiet and tucked away, while within easy walking distance of both the train station and the Accademia bridge. We had a different room this time, but as before, it was clean and comfortable. Catherine and Ernestina... More

We stayed here after a med cruise. Close enough to be able to walk from the cruise ship, and only one bridge to carry very heavy cases over! Our room was on the second floor of a tall building. It was a bit of a struggle with two heavy cases and hand luggage. Very nice elegant room and very helpful... More

I visited again for the fourth time last week, and I can honestly say that I don't think I'd ever want to stay anywhere else in Venice. It is such a beautiful, quaint B&B with wonderful staff who make you feel so welcome. My room this time was one I'd not had before and it didn't fail to disappoint. I... More

We have just returned from an Easter weekend in Venice, having stayed at this B&B. The location is perfect, not too far from the bus shuttle services to the airport and yet within a pretty area within the old city buildings and canals. Far enough away from the main attractions to avoid the mad crowds and noisy streets, yet within... More

A gorgeous B&B in a quiet residential area. Our room was charming, furnished in wonderful Venetian style and overlooked a neighbouring garden. The sumptuous breakfast wheeled into our room each day provided the much needed energy to explore this exquisite city. Dorsoduro is the best neighbourhood to stay, somewhere you can taste Venetian life while being close to all the... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
