Our first room was a converted attic with a non-functioning air conditioner and a ceiling so low I could touch it easily, and I'm 5'2" tall. You literally had to take the elevator to the 3rd floor, exit the elevator and lug your luggage up another flight of stairs. Then you exited the building at roof level to get to...

Dear Mrs Sanders, anyone of you made any complain during the stay- a part to reach room 401 at the bottom of the hotel with a wonderful view but 10 stairs to do, and we really realized too much for a person like you so chubby-. We suggest to stay at home : you are unable to visit any part...

The great advantage of this little hotel is its location just off St Mark Square, just in the middle of things, very near the vaporetto stations. Our room was quite small, but had a lovely terrace with a plant, a table and two chairs (the terrace is shared between two rooms, but both have their table and chairs). The funny...

My Friend and I stayed here in the first week of April for 3 nights. We got the water bus from Piazzale Roma to San Zaccaria and the hotel was really easy to find from the stop only a few minutes walk! The hotel is surrounded by many different restaurants and cafes which is a bonus and so close to...

This is truly a very good hotel. The only drawback is that its almost at the end of grand canal. But here you will find many people even late at night. Great Staff. Try to book a room with balcony because it has the view of grand canal. The room is very good.

The location is fantastic for one night. It is located very close to every tourist hot spot which is nice but can also take away from the beauty of Venice. I would recommend staying here for a night or two then venturing to the Santa Croce area which I found to be much quieter and had a much cooler vibe...

Rude front desk reception. Pointed out we were late. We arrived late due to a train delay. We got two rooms for 5 adults. One faced the street the other the courtyard. Opened a cabinet and see bug spray in the room. Should have been my first indication. I woke up in the middle of the night to use the...

Dear Madam, we aren't rude as you are and we aren't unpolite as you are. At the end of October we switch on heating and if you are so minus you do not know how to use it, it is up to you.Trust us when we say: enjoy your life. Best regards.

We spent a couple of days in Venice staying at this great little hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel was very clean and a quiet refuge from the bustle of Venice. The room was quite large and modern with a/c which is necessary in the heat of summer. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Firstly the position of the hotel is perfect,a few minutes from the vaporetto dock, San Marco and many restaurants, bars and shops and the hotel is clean with daily fresh linen but one of the male reception staff chose to ignore waiting guests and talked to a friend. If you pay extra for a room with a terrace be aware...

Dear Madam, thank you for giving some skills to our guests. In fact it is very important to know the place you are going to visit. There are a lot of prices for the same room in the hotel and it depends on the money you want to spend, but nobody could say that someone is down-and-out only because breakfast is...

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
