We had a 4 bed comfort room at the 2nd Floor of the Hotel. It was a clean room and as we just needed the room for sleeping confortable enough. It was quite during the night. There could be more storage room, as well in the bathroom. Reception staff was very friendly and the breakfast had a great choice of...

Hotel Mercurio is in an excellent location for exploring Venice, being only a few minutes' walk from many of the main attractions such as Piazza San Marco and Rialto Bridge. We appreciated being able to drop off/leave our bags on arrival/departure, and the hotel was so central that we could drop by our room during the day when exploring Venice....

A good experience staying at the hotel Mecurio. A good central location, 5-10 minutes from St Marks and Rialto. Friendly staff, a functional room with easy chairs. Great shower and good double glazing to keep the sound of the street out. Breakfast was typical cold selection of savoury and sweet items. Good service for fresh coffee and tea. My only...

We loved this hotel in Venice. Staff was super. Our canal view room was small but we loved it! For the price this is the best value in all Venice. We found everything else on the island to be super expensive. If you are a couple book this hotel now - I guarantee you will love the good value and...

I was pleased with our experience! Cozy accommodations. Great staff and workers. Front desk went above and beyond to help with directions around town. We had to leave early and would miss breakfast, so the front desk packed us food to go. Excellent WIFI service and close to all the main attractions.

Small, but nice rooms, clean and functional. Very, very friendly staff, extremely helpful. Good breakfast - do not expect champagne and lobsters, but you can give the day a very good start with a solid foundation. Please be aware - this hotel is less than five minutes away from St. Marco - you are at the the very heart of...

Room was very clean. Hotel staff spoke English and were very helpful. Great location. Breakfast provided several options. We would come back and stay here again. The restaurant next to the hotel was very good.

We enjoyed our stay, the staff were very friendlylet us check in when we arrived 4 hours early and left our bags there once we checked out as we had svereal hours to kill before flying home. I was visiting Venice with my adult children recently and we couldn't have been more pleased with this property. Based on another recent review, American tourists need to adjust their expectations. Venice is an ancient city full of history and charm. Hotels are old as well which is part of the charm and rooms are usually small by American standards....

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
