This was a great hotel in a very good location. Easy access to all the tourist hotspots. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Particularly enjoyed our evenings in the bar with the Freddie Mercury lookalike barman - great service! Breakfasts were brilliant. One us required a dairy and gluten free menu and it was easily available with a good... More

My family and I stayed here for three nights. We had two queen size beds in separate rooms. The room was very clean and with all updated amenities. The Air condition and Internet service was excellent. Not something you normally experience when traveling in Italy. The location was very accommodating also.

We stayed here for two nights and booked it in large part due to the great tripadvisor reviews. We wanted somewhere nice with a canal view but not on the grand canal. We were traveling with our 18 and 20 year old daughters so we needed a room that could hold 4 adults. Liassidi Palace met all our criteria and... More

We stayed two nights at this hotel -- 3 people -- had a huge room -- a king size bed and on the other side of the room a twin. Both were very comfortable. We took a private water taxi from the airport directly to Lisassadi's dock. When we arrived we had help with our luggage. The room was not... More

A very old refurbished palace turned into a hotel. On a canal so you can catch a water taxi from the airport direct to the hotel. Approx $120 euro, not cheap but worth it. Rooms are typical European rooms, quiet small but nice. Hotel is right next door to many restaurants and approx 5 min walk to St Marks Sq,... More

Hotel great. Service good and rooms nice and quiet but still on top of everything. Good restaurant and coffee shops opposite. Can't really fault it and ideal for a short or long stay. Only there for 2 days but that is all we wanted. Did all our sightseeing within walking distance

Good wifi, friendly staff, clean rooms. Some minor niggles lack of English TV channels, bathroom (we stayed in 105) could have done with some shower hooks so that you could reach your bath towel from the shower and the shower cubicle is a bit small especially if you are few pounds overweight!! However the staff and the location of the... More

Old world charm and friendly, professional staff! Get a room in the main building with a canal view - the rooms in one of the other buildings would be great for a family or if you had a group needing 3 rooms and a common space. The location is beyond excellent - near water transportation and St. Mark's, but back... More

Our room was clean and huge, unfortunately 2 of the windows overlooked the check in desk. The bathroom was amazing. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is only a few minutes' walk from a lot of the main attractions like Piazza San Marco. They have a lovely courtyard to hang out in. We loved eating breakfast with a... More

My boyfriend and I are currently doing a trip around Italy and our first port of call was Venice at the Liassidi Palace. Truly there is very little to fault this hotel. Location: Great. Near everything but set back a little, so nice and quiet. Staff: Friendly and attentive. Breakfast: Repetitive, but good. Decor: Grand, but not overbearing. Price: Very... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
