One of Italy’s most enchanting secrets, San Clemente Palace is a city resort located on its own island in the Venice lagoon, just 10 minutes from San Marco Square via the hotel’s complimentary boats. A tranquil sanctuary on the doorstep of Venice, San Clemente Palace Kempinski is one of Italy’s most enchanting secrets. The stately resort immerses guests in the drama, glamour, and heritage of Venice. The 900-year-old landmark property is comprised of a series of beautifully restored monastery buildings, as well as a 12th-century chapel, and nearly 15 acres of ancient gardens, courtyards, and terraces boasting breath-taking views of the city on the horizon. San Clemente Palace Kempinski has 29 special and 37 junior suites, and 130 luxury rooms in which Venetian decorations blend with legacy design elements, while typical high Venetian ceilings create a sense of home. San Clemente Suite is selected as the “Europe's Leading Hotel Suite” in 2018. The hotel features three bars and three special restaurants, including a signature restaurant with terraces overlooking the lagoon. Indulge in the restaurants Acquerello and Insieme, offering exceptional interpretations of iconic Italian and Venetian specialities, whereas Buddha-Bar Beach Restaurant & Pool Bar features a unique culinary experience that combines the signature dishes of the famous neo-Asian Buddha-Bar with unique local Italian and Mediterranean dishes and flavours. The unique spa experience offers a luxurious couples suite, and indulgent wet area with sauna, steam bath and showers, together with a hair salon. The hotel’s heated outdoor swimming pool is the ideal location for a refreshing break during the entire season. The hotel also features a great range of fitness facilities, a 1,500-metre jogging path through the centuries-old park, the pitch-and-putt course, and the tennis court.

Nestled amidst enchanting gardens, the San Clemente Palace Kempinski Venice offers a peaceful retreat with rooms celebrated for their spaciousness and historical allure. Guests frequently commend the hotel's cleanliness and luxurious ambiance, creating a serene haven that's meticulously maintained. While the attentive service garners appreciation, some visitors have noted occasional delays and unexpected fees, particularly regarding breakfast. Despite the tranquil location being a hit among those seeking romance, the value perception is somewhat tarnished by the pricey food and beverage options.

The entrance to the hotel arriving by boat was absolutely magical and the staff at the front desk were very welcoming. One of the highlights of our trip was the service we received from Luca, he was always so friendly, provided incredible service and even recommended things to do while we were in Venice!

Perfect hotel, everything was more than good. Nice to take the boat to Venice every day from the hotel island. The food was excellent and the room was perfect. In short, an excellent romantic location with a huge garden and old church. Very friendly staff.

The San Clemente Palace Kempinski is an incredibly beautiful, luxury hotel on Isole San Clemente, a 10-minute water taxi ride from San Marco Square. The hotel provides free water taxi service between the square every 40 minutes beginning at 8:10 am and ending at midnight. I took my wife here as a Christmas present, so this was a special occasion. The hotel is not cheap. The staff were incredible: friendly and solicitious. The concierges have an office just as one enters the hotel and were really helpful at helping arrange visits to local sites. Michele actually got us "skip the line" tickets to the Doge's Palace in the five minutes that we were waiting for the next shuttle. The room was beautifully furnished and really quiet. The breakfast was a real feast. More than anything, the grounds are genuinely beautiful with an easy 360 degree view of the surrounding islands and the great city. I'm a runner and I ran 5 laps of the island. Every meter of the island is beautifully tended with flawless gardens. As we left, my wife said, "I think that this was a once in a lifetime experience." Nope. We will be going back.

Lovely hotel set away from the hustle and bustle on its own island. The grounds and the building are amazing and I think it’s probably worth a day visit to the spa even if it staying there to explore the grounds and building The rooms however are dated the air conditioning unit was rattling all night and the walls were peeling due to damp. The grounds are quiet and nice for a day but would suggest somewhere with more atmosphere if you are going to Venice. It felt very cold and empty around the hotel The complimentary shuttle boat was great and always on time. Thanks to Zara from the lady in red who welcomed us and was very hospitable.

The bar is set low - many of the so-called luxury hotels in Venice are scruffy, overpriced and offer mediocre service at best but the San Clemente really does not live up to the normal standards for a 5 star hotel. Location - out on a private island in the laguna. It sounds great to be able to get away from the army of tourists who invade Venice but for such a location to work there are several essentials: the shuttle boat to the city needs to be frequent, once on the island there must be a sufficiently wide choice of food and drink options of high quality so that one does not need to go back to the city every evening, there needs to be some entertainment even if only digital, and the accommodation and service must be so good that one feels pampered and unwilling to leave. The San Clemente is below par in every respect. Shuttle frequency - every 40 minutes is too infrequent and means a lot of wasted time and waiting on the dock at San Marco in bad weather is miserable. Food and drink choices re limited and what I sampled was really poor. Room service was unacceptable. A soggy burger and a smoked salmon sandwich made with stale bread were both accompanied by the soggiest and most disgusting fried potatoes I have ever been served. Minestrone in the bar was cold, looked like dirty dish water and had no taste at all. The breakfast buffet was fine though there was no option to order eggs freshly cooked. All food was disproportionately expensive. Internet in the hotel is slow so downloads take time and the TV in the room offers very few channels with no option to mirror from an ipad to watch films etc. The room was tired with peeling paint, threadbare upholstery and a rain shower that sprayed water in every direction except down. Much went under the closed shower door so that one had a private acqua alta in the bathroom! On one morning there was no hot water at all - even after leaving the shower running for at least 15 minutes on full hot. Housekeeping was erratic - toilet rolls not replaced, water and coffee supplies not replenished and the complimentary but very boring minibar not refilled on schedule. At a 5 star hotel one expects concierge staff who go the extra mile. Here they do not. A request for a vaporetto map was met with “use the internet”. They also lack the connections to obtain the unobtainable and could not find tickets for San Marco for that day at any price. One expects better of the Kempinski brand.

Wow! We have just returned from a wonderful trip to Venice staying at this lovely hotel. The location on the island of St Clemente was just beautiful. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff at this friendly and welcoming hotel. The complimentary boat service into Venice was magical and our first trip in was at sunset - beautiful. The concierge service, Michaele and Michael were both superb and Reza and Shirin at Reception were both exceptional. The staff at breakfast and in the Dolce Restaurant by the pool were also super friendly and helpful. I can’t think of a hotel with a friendlier staff! To be honest we cannot fault our trip to this fabulous place - we had a minor issue with our room but it was dealt with efficiently and effectively - we very much hope to return! Thank you!

Our experience was outstanding. The hotel was elegant. Romantic and the staff was the best. The fleet of boats on time to take you to Main Venice was a great experience. This should be a six Star Hotel. The hotel grounds are beautiful. Once you finish your day around a very busy Venice you go back to this island that feels like you are in another time and place We will absolutely return we highly recommended

This is a very hard review for me. There was so much that was just okay but one thing (person)made the difference . We first visited San Clemente Palace back in 2010 before it became a Kempinski hotel and our experience was absolutely amazing. We had just been waiting to visit again and were so excited to be back. Upon arrival, we were checked in and told by the girl working the front desk that they kindly had given us an “upgrade” at no charge. I had booked us a Navigante Junior Suite and that is exactly what we got. I didn’t say anything to them but don’t tell me you did something and didn’t. The suite was at best, okay. The air conditioning never really worked well and there aren’t screens on the windows so you couldn’t enjoy the fresh air because of the bugs. We did have dinner the second night at the hotel. The view was spectacular, the food was just mediocre and the server was covered up so we didn’t receive the service or attention we expected. This would be a solid but disappointing 3 star review if we hadn’t accidentally struck up a conversation on the shuttle with an employee, Reza. He was returning from vacation and the following 2 days he worked, he made us feel like royalty. He checked on our reservations, made sure we had what we needed and told us about several things we hadn’t done in Venice. He went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. It’s amazing how one employee can make a rather disappointing stay become a good one. Thank you Reza for your hospitality.
