One of Italy’s most enchanting secrets, San Clemente Palace is a city resort located on its own island in the Venice lagoon, just 10 minutes from San Marco Square via the hotel’s complimentary boats. A tranquil sanctuary on the doorstep of Venice, San Clemente Palace Kempinski is one of Italy’s most enchanting secrets. The stately resort immerses guests in the drama, glamour, and heritage of Venice. The 900-year-old landmark property is comprised of a series of beautifully restored monastery buildings, as well as a 12th-century chapel, and nearly 15 acres of ancient gardens, courtyards, and terraces boasting breath-taking views of the city on the horizon. San Clemente Palace Kempinski has 29 special and 37 junior suites, and 130 luxury rooms in which Venetian decorations blend with legacy design elements, while typical high Venetian ceilings create a sense of home. San Clemente Suite is selected as the “Europe's Leading Hotel Suite” in 2018. The hotel features three bars and three special restaurants, including a signature restaurant with terraces overlooking the lagoon. Indulge in the restaurants Acquerello and Insieme, offering exceptional interpretations of iconic Italian and Venetian specialities, whereas Buddha-Bar Beach Restaurant & Pool Bar features a unique culinary experience that combines the signature dishes of the famous neo-Asian Buddha-Bar with unique local Italian and Mediterranean dishes and flavours. The unique spa experience offers a luxurious couples suite, and indulgent wet area with sauna, steam bath and showers, together with a hair salon. The hotel’s heated outdoor swimming pool is the ideal location for a refreshing break during the entire season. The hotel also features a great range of fitness facilities, a 1,500-metre jogging path through the centuries-old park, the pitch-and-putt course, and the tennis court.

I love to visit Venice but after couple hours in downtown I always like to get a rest and for me best exile from crowded Venice is hotel or better to call resort San Clemente located in fantastic vibrant place ex monastery on the same named island which is just 15-20 minutes from San Marco. Only trip on free luxury boat is absolutely exceptional experience. Large park with running pass around hotel is full of beautiful artifacts and part of hotel is exceptionally fantastic restored Church with many beautiful artifacts. Large rooms in hotel are newly renovated with artistic taste and restaurants are also exceptionally nice furnished and have fantastic views. Multinational team in hotel makes your stay very smooth without any problems. I can’t imagine other place to stay in Venice.

Hotel's Favorite
Our stay at San Clemente Palace Kempinski was simply wonderful. We did have some concerns ahead our trip given some of the negative reviews we'd read. This was a special trip for me as it was in celebration of my 50th birthday so we were worried by the reviews. But, the hotel did not disappoint, on any level. First of all, the staff. Everyone was incredibly professional, friendly and spoke wonderful English (but they appreciated our attempts at Italian - please Brits and Americans, just learn a few words, it goes a long, long way). But there's a few staff, I would like to highlight. From the moment we arrived, Noemi C in reception made us feel so welcome. Her demeanor was so warm and welcoming, and her enthusiasm was absolutely contagious. She remembered our names each time she saw us, was always happy and jovial, and was always knowledgeable. She seemed genuinely invested in our experience. She was a sheer delight each time we interacted with her. Ali, who works at the pool was so delightful and attentive to all the guests. He perfectly timed his check-ins with everyone to make sure they had drinks and food, was always polite, and had the loveliest of smiles and demeanors. What a wonderful young man to have on staff. Additionally, Darya who works at the front restaurant/bar also had a wonderful presence. Each night she made sure we had everything we needed as we had drinks before or after our return into Venice. She was always smiling, and always professional and efficient. What a delightful member of the team. The hotel itself was impeccable, stunning, and immaculately clean. It was, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful properties we have stayed at. From the grounds, to the gardens, to the art installations, to the pool, to the interior rooms. Beautiful. Our room was spacious and perfectly decorated. The bathroom was luxurious (although the water pressure in the bath tub wasn't great). Turndown service was done each night, and the all of the room features (closet, TV, minibar, AC) were wonderful. Because of the original design of the building (very wide corridors and thick walls) there was zero noise, which was wonderful for us as we are usually very bothered by hotel noise. Breakfast was, for us, perfect. We read a lot of "complaints" about the breakfast and can perhaps understand why a buffet style might not be everyones' preference. However, this is a very high-quality buffet, that was replenished frequently and with the most amazing salmon, meats, breads, greens, vegetables, cheeses, and pastries, eggs, bacon, and sausages. We were spoiled for choice. To be able to eat such delicious foods out in the stunning grounds was the best way to start our day. The pool was delightful and staff were great about asking if we needed drinks or food. The drinks were very pricey (not sure why) and could benefit from being a little cheaper. There were lots of fresh towels and a great outdoor setup for outdoor showers and bathrooms. The boat service into Venice was fast and efficient (though they do need better signage on the Venice side as we had a hard time finding it the first night. All in all, we regretted not booking an extra few nights at the hotel because it was so enjoyable. Again, we had quite a few concerns ahead of our trip, but we really need not have worried. We will definitely go back because of the wonderful experience we had. Thank you to all the staff at San Clemente Palace Kempinski for making our time so special.

We have stayed at this property when it was a St. Regis, sadly those days of excellent management and a proper 5 star hotel are long gone. Except for the heroics of some staff like Matteo (concierge) and Alex (valet) it's sadly sliding into the abyss. The property itself is exceptional, an oasis within the chaotic adult wonderland that is Venice. However, the lack of strong management and failure of basic needs creates more stress than enjoyment, allow me to elaborate: 1) The pool is FILTHY. See photos, this is simply unacceptable for a 5 star property 2) Two times the keys to our room stopped working and wasted our time sitting around waiting for new keys 3) The air-condition either isn't on or doesn't work in the hotel - it was excruciatingly hot in the lobby and hallways. The aircon in the room itself works well but you will sweat en route. 4) Friends of ours booked the hotel to renew their vows and had a few horror stories about how the hotel cornered them with extraordinary prices for basic things like doing a photo shoot inside when it was raining. 5) The coffee machine (see attached), iron and bathroom stalls simply didn't work. These are basic things that should be flawless. I am not an anal customer, but I expect a certain level of execution in a 5 star property that does not create additional annoyances and stresses. I would strongly advise avoiding this property until they change management / ownership (which is rumored to be in the works).

Unbelievable elegance and grace. This is one of the most beautiful properties on it own private island. A peaceful oasis away from the hubbub of the Grabd Canal. One of my top five hotels in the world. Excellent! Staff is highly trained and professional. You will want for nothing. Our concierge was very helpful and a special recognition to Irene in the main bar. The dining options are exceptional.

It was an amazing vacation we had at San Clemente Palace Kempinski. Property itself is amazing. It is located in a private island where you can spend your time in gorgeous and beautiful gardens in peace. Every corner of the island have a unique breathtaking view. Our room was most comfortable and well decorated. We loved the food both in Acquarello and Buddha Bar restaurants. Especially the sushi I had in Buddha Bar ,thanks to chef Tom, was the best sushi I ever had. I wasn’t expecting to eat such a good Asian food in Italy. They also had a lovely DJ who was playing authentic mixes. Pool side waitors were very friendly especially Ali. He was always positive and helpful. Concierge team, Michael and Mateo, was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. They reserved the best restaurants in Venice and also a good guide to Biennale. We stayed 3 nights there and enjoyed every minute that we spend in the island. We absolutely want to come back. Thank you for everything.

Our long-awaited dream vacation started the moment we arrived at San Clemente Palace Kempinski. We were instantly amazed by the beauty of the property and welcoming staff who assisted us with our luggage and helped us at every level. We were greeted at the front desk by the most professional and enthusiastic staff the day we arrived! The service was most wonderful and absolutely the best throughout our entire 8-night stay. The property grounds are just gorgeous with beautiful gardens, amazing views, so peaceful and tranquil. We loved the ancient, church on the property and visited it daily. Our room was most comfortable, impeccably clean, spacious with beautiful decor. The resort in its entirety is the most breathtaking and beautiful. The property is located on a private island that is the most unique with the most convenient and complementary boat shuttle to San Marco and back. What makes this Palace so special is their outstanding staff. We would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to the entire team and most importantly to: Ceyhan from Guest Relations for her genuine and sincere service and always going above and beyond. Thank you to the entire staff at Breakfast restaurant Insieme especially to Pietro, Shahana, Diarra, Eleonora, Daniela, Irene and Simona for their attentive and professional service. We really enjoyed our sunset dinners at Acquerello with breathtaking sunset views and delicious cuisine. Concierge services staff especially Mateo was fantastic, very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Giovanni at the hair salon did an amazing job with my hair service. We absolutely liked everything during our entire stay! This was the best experience ever! We will definitely be back soon! Grazie Mille!

I stayed at San Clemente Palace Kempinski for a wedding and everything was fantastic! The hotel is located on a private island a short boat ride from San Marco, so it feels like a little oasis within a big city (which was the perfect escape from the crowds of tourists during the height of Venice's peak season). The grounds are beautiful and the service was excellent. Costi, the Food & Beverage Manager, was extremely attentive and especially helpful in taking care of the wedding guests' requests (and with a 160-person wedding, this was no small feat!). He also moonlights as "Mr. Magic" so if you have a chance to meet him, make sure you ask to see some magic tricks! :)

San Clemente Palace is a fantastic place to stay. It is an oasis of quiet luxury, elegance and calm. The staff are friendly, welcoming and go out of their way to make your stay something special. The hotel is set in beautiful gardens and the art exhibited around the property adds to the enjoyment of the surroundings. The concierge staff are extremely helpful in offering suggestions for places to eat and things to do. The regular boat service over to Venice is punctual and convenient and takes less than 15 minutes. The pool is lovely and did not feel overcrowded at all, even in the height of summer. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. It is nice to be able to escape the heat and crowds of Venice to such a tranquil and welcoming environment.

We visited the estate with the aim of visiting the rum distillery and indulging in the pleasure of different types of their products. This is our first time on this island, so we were particularly interested in it. When we visited the sales and tasting area, we were surprised because the rum was displayed only on the sales shelves for purchase, and at the tasting counter it was hidden under the counter, so we didn't know what we were supposed to taste. We didn't get any, not even the briefest presentation of the different types of their rums from the bar staff. The staff only served rum so that the tourists could drink as much as they wanted, which was not our intention. We didn't come to get drunk, but we wanted to learn about rum. If I forget about this essential problem, I can say that the habitacion is located in a beautiful place and has very well-maintained gardens with many artistic creations.
