This is a delightful guesthouse with warm and hospitable staff. My family stayed here four nights at the end of July/beginning of August. We enjoyed the lavishly decorated Venetian-style Junior Suite, which has tall windows opening onto a popular gondola route. Excellent location, just five minutes from Rialto Bridge. Spotless, modern bathroom with tub/shower combination. Good air-conditioning and wi-fi connectivity....

Great little place hidden away in a courtyard just off a busy street in an old historical building (12 century), fully equipped up to a level of a good modern hotel. Remarkably decorated, clean and quiet, righ beside a canal. Great staff, free wi-fi (was not available in the room though), safe in the room, good breakfast. In a walking...

Calling Ca' Amadi a B&B doesn't do it justice! The quality of the room and helpfulness of the staff alone make it a true 5-star level accommodation. Very conveniently located only 5-minute walk away from Rialto bridge, it is nicely tucked away from the street noise, enjoying a view over a small canal. We stayed in the junior suite and...

Great room, great people, very helpful. They had wifi, great bathroom, lots of space. Had a really great breakfast too. Was quiet, tucked away in a nice area. Fantastic view of the water, right near the Rialto bridge. It turns out Marco Polo's family started the place.

Charming little hotel. We had a great 2 night stay. The family room was perfect for us and our 14-yr-old granddaughter. The breakfast had a great variety. Reception was pleasant and helpful -- good recommendation for dinner (Giardinetto), kept our bags in lobby after check-out. Location near Rialto and shopping was very good. Have faith in the directions to get...

I should preface this review by admitting that I'm not a big fan of Venice. In the summer, it's too crowded, hot, expensive, and touristy. My daughter and I had a short stay during our last trip through Europe, and I chose Ca Amadi for it's central location and ease of access to the "main" spots. Though the hotel itself...

A quaint hotel with only a few rooms but you soon find out that the people who operate this small hotel are also the owners of the business. Only the owners value that kind of customer service deliverance. Breakfast was good, location while a little hard to find initially was well located to the center of things. Unlike some other...

We found Locanda Ca' Amadi by using the advice they provided from their website. We used the Alilaguna Orange Route from the airport, which you get to on foot within 5 minutes. From the Rialto Bridge it is another few minutes’ walk which is very straight forward and after the one little bridge you cross there are signs for Ca'...

The hotel is very well located, close to the Rialto bridge. The breakfast is very good, specially considering the scrumbled eggs. The recepion is very kind. The room was very good also. But the reason I didn't give a 5 stars is because the air conditioning was not working at all. We spend 2 nights there, and as the reception...

Management response:

Dear Guest, first of all thank you for the nice comments you made on our guest-house. As far as the air conditioning is concerned, we're really sorry for this problem, which may have been solved if only we had known about it. As soon as you asked, the receptionist showed you how to activate the air conditioning and the thermostat...

This small Locanda has only 6 rooms and it's inside a very old and historic building. Wonderful service with very good tips for restaurant and things to do. Great location, really in the middle of Venice few steps from Rialto bridge, less than 10 minutes from Saint Mark Square. Breakfast with eggs and bacon was also really good.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
