Stayed here in Sep. Excellent place for money, scrumtious breakfast with a decent spread, cold a/c, good wifi, quiet cute piazza qnd very close to the hustle. Comfy bed with plenth of history to it (700+ yr old ceiling). The host Antonio went above/beyond. Very helpful...def a must. Good value too.

A beautiful boutique hotel which is tucked away just off a main road near the Rialto bridge. Unfortunately we only stayed here one night and didn't get to enjoy breakfast but the room was spectacular and looked like a room in a royal palace. Large comfortable bed, large clean bathroom. The hotel receptionist was very helpful and accommodating. Great location... More

Amazing time in Venice and living at Ca' Amadi for our 3 day visit was delightful. One of the homes of Marc Polo in his time! I felt all of the old world charm of gorgeous beamed ceilings and brick exposed walls you would expect. Antonio greeted us in the little courtyard (ahhhhhh....the courtyard...so charming) and carried our luggage and... More

The house is discreetly tucked away in a little alley but the kind owner called me before arrival and gave directions. The staff are attentive and most kind. We were allocated a room with a canal view as it was my first trip and it was a spectacular sight to open the window and witness the gondoliers go by. It... More

Make sure you pick this lovely little hotel for your stay in Venice! I did have some concerns that it wouldn't be easy to find given other reviews but we printed off a map before hand and as you get closer there are signs (look to the top of the buildings though!). The room was superb (with a very comfy... More

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights in August. I'll agree with other reviews that it isn't the easiest to find; saying that we followed a map relatively easily and just had to trust to keep walking when we were within 10 metres. The location is fabulous as even though it is hidden, it's a quiet little b... More

The room we stayed in was out of this world, stunning, huge, clean, tidy, unbelievable simply amazing. We arrived late (after hours) but our instructions to find the hotel were very clear and we needed a code to get in, easy very easy. Our luggage was lost from Paris to Venice and with our winter clothes in one suitcase and... More

Ok, this is not the easiest place to find. There are some small signs that you can follow, but the tiniest winding paths ever. Keep your faith! Keep going and you will be rewarded. The hotel is beautiful! Rooms are fantastic and service excellent!! A place to come back to.

A many of the other reviewers have pointed out, this small seven bedroom establishment is truly tucked away and hard to find the first time, so make sure you've mapped it out on your phone or have great directions. It's an old converted home that has maintained the charm and character of centuries gone by. We stayed in the sweet overlooking... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
