    Excellent location but tired hotel.
Location is undoubtedly the biggest selling point of this hotel. 3 minutes from the Rialto Bridge and 5 from St Marks Square. Our room was a junior suite so plenty of room and beds very comfortable. Our bathroom was also a good size. However, I would say the rest of the hotel was adequate and a bit tired. Our door handle came off in our hands and the door cards to let us in were temperamental and it was anyone’s guess if they would let us in or not! Our rooms (we had two) had no welcome packs ie nothing telling us there was room service available (apparently there is) or how to dial for reception or any fire exit instructions. We also needed a ‘do not disturb’ sign for the morning but there didn’t seem to be one of these either. A small tea making set would have been wonderful too. Our bathroom often had a foul stench which I imagine was the drains. We used our perfume to disguise it! Breakfast was a functional affair in a soulless room and I can safely say the breakfast staff did not smile once the whole week. Good choice of food but every time you want tea or coffee you have to ask the bad tempered staff who bring it to you. I wish we had been able to fill up ourselves where the food was. We ordered a water taxi as a final treat to take us to the airport. Be warned they are merciless with their pricing, 150 euros for a 20 minute journey!! The taxi driver was rude, didn’t smile or offer to carry my mother’s heavy bag as he marched us through the crowds to the Rialto Bridge. We felt trapped in his greedy claws as tourists.
Dear, We regret to acknowledge that your experience wasn't notable. Our Bonvecchiati Hotel is a classic historical building with a lot of charming tales about the fashion environment to tell and we would be really pleased to inform you that we are considering a renovation that will bring us to our original brightening. We would like to take the chance to inform you that water taxi fare is a fixed price for all the Taxi company in town and is always the same As alternative there is the public transportation. Our front office staff just offer the possibility to choose informing about the rates. We thank you once again for your visit and hope you will have the chance to come back to Venice soon. Sincerely, Giuliano Zanet Deputy Manager

    Great location, slightly dated rooms
Stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Bonvecchiati with a group of friends. The hotel's central location is fantastic for sightseeing in Venice. It's two minutes from Saint Mark's square, and 5 minutes from the Rialto Bridge. A perfect starting place to walk to anywhere. Our room (201) was small and a bit dated, but decorated with Murano glass - giving it authentic Venetian charm. The hotel has been in operation since 1790, so it really *has* to have authentic Venetian charm! The lobby has a couple of nice seating areas. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Our group had 5 separate rooms, and each was different. All were on the small side, but I think that's pretty common for Venice. Ours had a view of another building, so the main point of the window was to provide natural light. Room 101 below us was an accessible room, and a bit more modern. It had no view at all - just some air conditioners. A couple of rooms had views over the street (Calle Goldoni). Each was differently decorated. The restaurant / bar departed from the style of the rest or the hotel. It was very bright, clean, and modern. Breakfast was basic but reasonable. Two "baristas" made coffee to order. Dinner there was good. A mid afternoon Aperol Spritz was served with a bowl of mixed nuts. There may be fancier and more modern (and probably more expensive) hotels, but if your goal is to be centrally located to explore Venice, then Hotel Bonvecchiati is an excellent choice.

    2 night stay
Excellent location just minutes off St Marks Square. The hotel is traditional and had plenty of character. Rooms where a little dated but it adds to the charm of the hotel, room was a comfortable size and the bathroom had all the that was needed for our stay. Check in was extremely fast and very efficient and they provided a map, which was very helpful. We did not book breakfast but did eat at the hotel for the 2 mornings as it was €11pp and there was plenty of choice and very good value for money. lovely setting on the outside terrace. The hotel is is an great location and accessible for St Marks and Rialto Bridge. The hotel did offer to book a private water taxi from directly behind the hotel back to the train station at a cost of €90 but we chose to take the local water taxi for €19 for the 2 of us. Would certainly recommend for location and enjoyment.

Amazing place, outdoor space was lovely. The staff was amazing and very friendly. They made us feel comfortable and we’re very attentive to all our needs. Honestly we could not have picked a better place to stay. The location is wonderful, off the beaten path but just a few min walk to everything.

We were loving the hotel even with the small flaws leaky plumbing, and stained carpet. Then the day of check out we found $100 euros missing from two envelopes which were intended as gifts to our family. These envelopes were with a stack of receipts in the area where the safe was located. No reason for anyone to open this area! Until check out. Anyway the hotel was adamant that their staff had nothing to do with it. No resolve to our issue!! DO NOT STAY HERE!! What a crappy ending to our honeymoon.

We booked this hotel for a 4 night stay to celebrate our 25th anniversary. I will try to be fair with my review. This hotel has good and bad points The good is the location, its on top of all the great attractions. The grand canal , rialto bridge , st marks square. The staff are very pleasant ,especially the bar staff. The outside bar area is lovely , one of the best. The restaurant for breakfast was very nice, clean and efficient and there was more than enough choice of what to eat. Our private water taxi to and from the airport arrives at the hotels back door, very nice. 2 small bottles of water put in your small fridge every day The bad or not so good. We paid for a superior room , but it was basic at best - awful. It was very tatty and not that clean if you looked hard enough on rims in the bathroom and mirror. When i walked in i wanted to leave, we called our room “ the shed” it was like a student let. I am sure we did not get the room we had paid for and should have said something. But my husband said well we are here now and we wont be in the room that much. 🙄🤔 We were bitten alive by mozzys , having about 12 + bites each and we feel that we got most of these in the room, so pack a mosquito plug in for your room. Plus we didnt have the right plugs with us. They need to be 3 pin. They were sold at a chinese hardwear shop nearby . I forgot to pack my travel iron, so i asked for an iron from the hotel. Reception said they didnt hire out irons, so i asked where i could buy a travel iron and was told this was “ not allowed” for reasons of safety. Then i was told “ you can have your clothes pressed here at the hotel” 13 euro per item ! I made do, and wore what i could that had travelled well. ( i must add that our bed linen was changed every day - nice.) You have to hand in your key at reception, its a big clunky key . No plastic key cards here. If you close your door with key inside you cant get back in. The rugs and carpets on our floor in the corridors were very tatty. I do laugh that people refer to this as “ shabby chic” when really they are passed their best and need replacing. The lifts are super small if youre mildly claustrophobic like me , they can be a challege . The hotel also has large blackamoor figures on the lower floor , which didnt sit right with me and i wondered how other guests at the hotel may have felt . Summary Would i stay here again , yes i would Lessons learnt about irons and mozzys, I would do more research on what room i was in . Not having 409. The location is fab , as is the dining drinking facilies. Friendly waiting and bar staff 👍 Remove figurines please. Venice nicer to visit in spring and autumn .

Excellent location with friendly and accommodating staff. Tasmin was particularly friendly when doing our room. Air conditioner was working perfectly during the heatwave, unlike other hotels throughout our journey. The breakfast was great with a range of food and drink options. Need to improve on the juices which tasted like watered down cordial. Close to St Marks Square and other stores.

A classy hotel, with very helpful receptionists who gave us a warm welcome. The hotel is located on the corner of 2 canals and is ideally suited for St Marks square, a 3 minute walk. The Grand Canal is again a 3 minute walk in the opposite direction We had a lovely room, small but well proportioned, overlooking the canals. The hotel had very good break buffet service with a good choice of food. This would be my first choice hotel if we visit Venice again.

We ve been to Venice before, so we knew what to expect of reasonably priced 4 * hotels. The location is excellent, right in the centre. At checkin the lady said they had upgraded us..... the rooms (2 as we were travelling as a family) were aged just meeting the absolute.minimum requirements one could tolerate. The bathrooms were full of mold, and their condition was very bad. But location was excellent, and that s what really mattered at the time. The worse part of my stay though is when I trusted them booking a water taxi through the hotel the night before our check out. After asking for our luggage 15 min before the agreed time for the taxi service we realised that something went wrong in the reservation and we had no taxi to go to the station. We nearly missed our train due to the hotel staff

Wonderful location and we stayed in a refurbished room. Bathroom was excellent with amazing shower pressure. Breakfast was included and was fantastic. Gorgeous outdoor deck for dining or drinks. Staff were super helpful and arranged an afternoon trip to Murano which is definitely worthwhile. Hotel is super close to St Mark's square and perfect for popping in and out during the day. Highly recommend. Pullout sofa bed was excellent for the two kids. Thanks!
