Returned home today the 23rd September having spent a weeks holiday visiting the sights of this most interesting city,Hotel Nuovo Tyson was not an hotel we were aware of and we went on a review and also availability as we had very little time to find an hotel for last minute holiday. The hotel more than lived up to the... More

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, and the rating is an aggregate of 2 for the economy double room in the annex building, and 4 for the single room in the main building. Was told that the newly refurbished room I had booked had some piping issues the first night, and was given a room at the top... More

My Mother and I stayed at this hotel for two nights. Location is perfect. Walking distance to everything. Also right by the canal. Staff are brilliant. So helpful and polite. They worked hard. We were provided with a map of mainland Venice. Came in very handy. Breakfast was included in our rate. Food was tasty. Consisted of cereals, yogharts, toast,... More

we stayed in the annex next door. Small shower, otherwise quite nice. Good breakfast. friendly and knowledgeable staff. Easy to find since the street connects with the main waterfront that connects to San Marco square. This is important in Venice where no street is more than a block long.

The hotel is located in a quieter area of Venice (Castello) which is nice since sometimes it's good to be away from the crowds, yet it's a 10-15 minute walk to Saint Mark's. The staff were very friendly both the day staff and the night staff- happy to answer questions. The room was clean, newly remodeled bathroom, A/C worked great... More

We just stayed at this property for 3 nights. I chose it because of it's proximity to St Mark's and the surrounding attractions. I also read where it was recently renovated, was clean, had AC, etc. Well all of the above are somewhat true but I still felt like the hotel is tired. The pictures on the website make it... More

Stayed here for 2 nights and couldn't fault it! The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. The location is great, within walking distance to everything and easy to get to from train station. The breakfast is an added bonus with fresh pastries everyday. Good value for money.

The hotel is very simple and nice. It has great wifi, and a very helpful and courteous staff. It's in a great location, about 10 minute walk to San Marco, away from the major crowds. Very close to the Arsenale and the beautiful, quiet park in the Castello neighborhood. If you are looking for a luxury this isn't going to suit... More

The Nuovo Teson has an outstanding multi-lingual staff that knows the area well and is helpful in all regards. We watched the Mr. Bean look alike front desk gentleman flip from rapid fire English to French to Italian in seconds. It was very impressive! They were able to make restaurant reservations and restaurant recommendations for us, and he even walked... More

This was a good location for getting around Venice. The front desk staff were all very helpful on how to navigate the vaporettos and had suggestions on places to eat too. The room was clean and breakfast was great

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
