Friendly and reliable service. Great staff. We felt like home. The breakfast is served in quiet and lovely atmosphere. Room cleaning is on daily basis. And don't forget there's a terrace upstairs if you want to relax or smoke.

We stayed here for two nights. It is two minutes walk away from San Marco square and about 5 minutes from the grand canal water bus stop at San Zacharia. The room was small, really clean and had a balcony to enjoy the quiet ambience. Breakfast was nice and the staff could not be more friendly. Great few days spent... More

Just left this hotel after a 2 night stay with husband. The hotel is in a central location surrounded by bars and shops. Roughly 10 minute walk from water bus stop. The staff were pleasant and friendly. Had fridge in room with mini bar which was quite reasonably priced and was nice to take a drink out onto the roof... More

Our room was small, but very quaint. The interior was a bit dated but everything worked as it should. The bathroom was very small but also very clean and had plenty of soap etc. Wi-Fi worked well. The location in old Venice was of course very good, but be aware that Castello is a 30-40 minutes walk from the train... More

Great location 5 minutes walk from St Marks square and 2 minutes walk to the grand canal. The hotel is quite friendly and clean making a great base for a venice adventure .breakfast is served from 7am and they offer a good variety of foods.

Visited the Castello based on recommendation, the location is great, less than 5 minutes from the bridge of sighs and St Marks. The Hotel on my arrival had messed up the beds having asked for two singles, the reception asked the porter to separate the beds, the porter asked the receptionist begrudgingly in Italian if we had booked singles, I... This was a lovely little place to stay in Venice. Very clean ,rooms very small but you only sleep in them as there is so much to see and do in Venice so don't let that put you off. Breakfast supplied in booking and was also nice enough nothing special but nice enough.

It was average. Hotel staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was less than average. Room 105 was dark and small, you couldn't open the window because it was very noisy from the early morning. I picked the place because of the location, may be will stay again if can't find anything better.

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
