Leaving Venice, my e-reader slipped out of a half-closed bag on the water taxi. The staff at the Novecento tracked it down, wrapped it up and sent it to me. Very much in keeping with the attentive, personal service in this charming hotel.
Great small hotel located in the heart of Venice off St Mark's square. The staff were very helpful with recommendations for restaurants and activities. The rooms were modern, sleek, and comfortable. A beautiful outdoor terrace to eat the complimentary breakfast served daily. It was a...More
Small hotel, maybe 6 or 7 rooms. Rooms are nice but basic, bathrooms are well equipped. Staff is extremely friendly. Go if you don't want to spend a lot but don't expect a huge amount either. 10 minutes from st marks square with plenty of...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

It is close enough to the train station and very close to the main sites. Our stepson is staying there in December for one night I think because we recommend it as central. Novice to is about five to 10 minutes from the Rialto, St Marks Square etc. Remember to use the vaporettos as much as possible - it makes all the difference. And enjoy
