Stayed here as part of a tour. Spacious clean room with attractive decor. Small but functional bathroom. My room was 102 and overlooked the lovely square which is also a walk through on the pedestrianised shopping street and the convenient way to the main rail...More
The hostel is very lovely and centrally located. We were given fresh towels every day and soap so it was a bit of an upgrade from other hostels. We were in a 4-bed dorm with its own ensuite - quite luxurious.

The hostel is pretty much a couple of ex-apartments in a building next to a hotel. We stayed in a dorm where the bathroom had no lock on the door. Also there was only one door key between the five of us and the curfew...More
This was the cheapest hostel we found and was very adequate. Our room, although small, was clean and the bathroom very big. The room could be improved by having a safe in it, especially as the 'safe' downstairs is simply just the cubby hole for...More
Although we booked a room through Alloggi Gerotto Calderan, the room itself was in San Geremia rooms building. We were on the fourth floor with no elevator, but the room was clean and even had a small balcony. Within walking distance to the train station...More

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby
shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

Hey! Even i stayed in a private room. But the key won't be an issue. Also the service of this place is great. The location is perfect as you can just walk to the hotel from the train station when you arrive in venice. There are 2 main water taxi routes within 5 min walk. The restaurant next to the reception is a great place for breakfast and the hotel guests get some kind of discount as well. I hope you have a wonderful stay!

"Book early. 5 EUR extra per night for a room with private bathroom is very much worth it."
