I stayed in this hostel for 4 nights and I was satisfied with what I got for the price I paid. The one key per room was strange but you get used to it and there is no kitchen facilities, those would be my only complaints, on the other hand, the bed was made for me every day which i... More

We stayed only 1 day in Venice but this hotel was sufficient. The staff was helpful & polite. We weren't able to check in until after 2pm but there is a free luggage drop for guests. When we first arrived we went to the door 283 over the underwear store like it said in the instructions but another guest directed... More

This hostel is very cheap by Venice standards, and is only a short 5-10 minute walk from the train station. The wifi is very fast but only works in half-hour lots so you have to keep reconnecting. You have to hand in your keys when you leave and be let in- this is for cleaning purposes and security. It sounds... More

Basic but quite clean. It only gets warm after a couple of hours in the room. 50% discount Voucher for cafe next door but dont be fooled, its prices are so highly inflated that afterthe discount, it comes up to be similar to other prices elsewhere. However food quality is not bad. Double bed consist of 2 single mattresses joined... More

We got a twin-bed room with private bathroom and stayed for 4 nights, during 09/10/15~13/10/15, the cost is 51.25EUR per person per night. That is pretty cheap for Venice standard, and if you're only looking for a place to sleep, this hotel is a good option. The room is small, but everything is clean. Bathroom is clean as well. Everyday... More

Me as my wife have just visited Allogi Gerotto and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had only booked for 3 nights but ended up staying for 4. Location was amazing in a little courtyard area with a church at one end. It is just round the corner from the train station and has some lovely restaurants and coffee shops nearby.... More

Appalling accommodation. 4th floor, no lift, air con not working, blanket had holes, rock-like pillows, stank of bleach (therefore clean at least), bathroom so small the sink didn't fit, cupboard (??? If that is the correct description) falling apart, no safe, no breakfast, couldn't get in main door (no where near reception) because building so run down the angle for... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
