Visited Venice in November with my girlfriend and stayed in the carnival palace. What an amazing hotel. The place is spotless/clean. Located on an ideal position away from the hustle and bustle of everyday Venice life. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. We went for deluxe room and would recommend spending the extra money as it was amazing.

This hotel is kind of on the outskirts of Venice, and it’ll take about 25 minutes to walk to Piazza San Marco. But you can catch a waterbus if you like. There’s free breakfast which is quite basic but is okay. There’s no tea or coffee available in the rooms and the dining area is closed outside of breakfast hours,...

We chose Carnival Palace Hotel due to its ease of access upon arrival. It's close to the train station and Vaporetto stops. That said, it is also a 30 min walk from St Mark's and some of the main sites. In the summer this would be great due to crowds. In the winter, it was a long cold walk at...

Nice hotel, great location a few metres from the waterbus. The rooms are very clean and comfy, although there is some noise from the surrounding streets - you will get this everywhere in Venice. The breakfast is very good. Situated a little way from the main tourist areas, there are some very reasonable priced bars nearby. Would definitely book here...

Stayed in this boutique hotel for 4 nights and it was quite delightful. Nice room/good breakfast/very pleasant staff. I had no problem in recommending this at all and equally I would happily stay here again should I be fortunate enough to visit Venice again.

We picked this place based on reviews and that it is further away from the tourist area yet close enough to be reached by foot traffic from train station. We booked a suite with canal view and it was very spacious. I found the bed on the soft side, room facility was good. Only comment is that it would be...

Following a cruise, I spent a lovely evening at the Carnival Palace Hotel, which is located in the northern part of Venice, known as 'Cannaregio' Carnival Palace Hotel is well situated, just far enough from a main street but close enough for easy access. From the port, it took about 20 minutes to walk. We stayed in a suite (superior),...

We loved everything about this hotel, except that we could not control any temperature in our room. We kept asking them to turn down the heat, but it never changed. We couldn't even turn off our heated towel rack which turned our bathroom into a sauna! Opening the windows didn't help because a; the staff kept closing them while we...

We had such a wonderful stay at this hotel. Smooth check in, gorgeous room, great bar, fantastic breakfast, wonderful staff. The location is brilliant for food and lovely bars and just far enough away from all the tourist traps that you feel like you're in authentic Venice! Really feel lucky to have found this hotel as it made our stay...

This hotel is in a great, safe location. The staff is very nice and helpful. There is a water taxi stop very close. We picked the red room and we were very glad we did. It is located on its private floor, has two separate balconies with a private jacuzzi on one, luxurious all marble bathroom complete with a jacuzzi...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
