Stayed in this boutique hotel for 4 nights and it was quite delightful. Nice room/good breakfast/very pleasant staff. I had no problem in recommending this at all and equally I would happily stay here again should I be fortunate enough to visit Venice again.

We picked this place based on reviews and that it is further away from the tourist area yet close enough to be reached by foot traffic from train station. We booked a suite with canal view and it was very spacious. I found the bed on the soft side, room facility was good. Only comment is that it would be... More

Following a cruise, I spent a lovely evening at the Carnival Palace Hotel, which is located in the northern part of Venice, known as 'Cannaregio' Carnival Palace Hotel is well situated, just far enough from a main street but close enough for easy access. From the port, it took about 20 minutes to walk. We stayed in a suite (superior),... More

We loved everything about this hotel, except that we could not control any temperature in our room. We kept asking them to turn down the heat, but it never changed. We couldn't even turn off our heated towel rack which turned our bathroom into a sauna! Opening the windows didn't help because a; the staff kept closing them while we... More

I booked Venice a few months before we went and was planning to propose. Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
