We stayed at Carnival Palace Hotel for 3 nights in September 2016 and it was fantastic! The hotel is away from the main tourist areas but easily accessible either by walking or water taxi. It's also a short walk from the main train station. The staff were very kind and helpful. The breakfast was great and offered lots of variety.... More

We expected Venice to be a bit smelly but this lovely, clean boutique hotel is near the sea at the west end of the canal. It's right near the Tre Archi and is quiet. It has a small bar with a little garden out the back. Recommended!

We seemed to be the only ones who wanted our morning cappuccino outside in the garden. Staff only too happy to oblige. Young staff on reception all smile - their English good as my Italian. We all just smiled. Really nice stay and quiet location.

You don't always get great service that you may expect in Venetian hotels but you do here. A light and airy hotel reception in an off the beaten track area of Venice. It's a long walk to Piazza San Marco from here which keeps many people away but if you want the relaxed canal side eating and drinking it's all... More

We chose this hotel on the strength of other reviews and we weren't disappointed. If you want to be in the centre of things with all the hustle and bustle on your doorstep, this isn't for you. If you want a good quality hotel, in a peaceful setting (at least by Venice standards), with excellent staff, quality rooms and a... More

The Carnival Palace is a very unique hotel, when you think in the alternatives in Venice, this one definitely standout. It has a great atmosphere, classic Venetian decoration with a modern flair. We loved staying there, you can easily feel like home. The staff is really friendly and helpful, we add the pizza, the sparkling wine and the fruit basket... More

A very clean and well maintained hotel. All of the staff we interacted with from the front desk to the breakfast were very helpful and friendly and you could tell they took pride in the property. The rooms were modern and spacious. The bathrooms were especially large and well appointed. A few impressions that might be helpful to know: -... More

My husband and I were impressed with how comfortable and luxury this hotel was in Venice. The location is in a secluded part of Venice, 20 min walk from sight seeing. There are some restaurants within 5 minutes of the hotel but most are around a 10 to 15 minute walk. The taxi bus stop is very conveniently located from... More

We booked this hotel after reading so many great reviews on here, but have to say we left feeling a little disappointed when it could of been so much better with a few changes. 1. The air con did not work in the room despite numerous phone calls to reception and an engineer coming to look at it. We were... More

We arrived this hotel at 11:30am, got ourselves pre-checked in and our luggage was safely stored by the concierge. The lady personnel at the reception desk was super nice and she can speak in English very fluently. We then went out to have a fantastic lunch in a restaurant "Pontini" near by the hotel. Great Seafood! After lunch around 2:15pm,... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
