Being right on the Grand Canal does not get any better! This hotel makes you not want to even leave the room! The beds amazing, the view incredible, and the service over the top! Alice and Luca made our trip! We were in Italy for 17 days and no one came close to the amount of customer service we received... More

Yes there were stairs and the walls looked old and the furniture wasn't amazing but that didn't bother us. Plenty of room, view was to a small canal. It did get loud on the weekend nights. Wifi was really good. Luca at the front desk was very helpful and kind. The directions they send to the hotel from the train... More

We booked the room overlooking the grand canal and did not regret booking it. We took the water bus from the airport and its a good 10 min walk over some small bridges. We blindly followed google map and we were at gate of the hotel were we were buzzed in. Everyone complained about the stairs with big luggage but... More

This was a lovely little hotel in a brilliant location to explore Venice. There are only 7 rooms and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served in our room which suited us perfectly. We read some reviews that said it was difficult to find and perhaps because we were expecting this to be a struggle, we actually... More

Initially we were given room no. 6 which disappointed us. However the very helpful lady on reception sorted us out and our new room didn't dissapoint. Location is excellent and near stop for boat airport transfer. The view from room was amazing and would be difficult to beat.

A lovely stay! Hotel was easy to find. Walked from train station taking 20 mins. Upon arrival greeted by kind and friendly staff. Hotel is just off the grand canal a little disappointed that the windows were quite high and the view was not easy to enjoy thought there would be Juliet balconies instead had to climb on a chair.... We booked 2 nights in a room with a canal view more in hope of a nice view than real expectation, given our experience of Venice and the price was little more than small standard rooms elsewhere in the city. We were therefore delighted to see our huge room with superb views over the Grand Canal through 2 large French... More

Our first trip to Venice and we had certain priorities on our shopping list. Firstly, we wanted to be on the Grand Canal with good views and we wanted to be central to all of the places we wanted to visit. On the converse side, we were not interested in a spa or gym as I had no intention of... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
