It's a 15 minute vaporetto ride away. Doable, but you spend a fair amount of time dealing with the vaporetti. Make sure to buy an unlimited pass, otherwise you will be paying way too much for the service. I couldn't sleep because it was incredibly hot, and if I took off the comforter the mosquitos would bit me. Not many bathrooms for so many people, but as long as you wake up early or give yourself extra time, it's fine.
The hostel is pretty average. The breakfast is good and cheap. The bathrooms are a little gross (mostly from some black mold in the showers) and one of the windows in my room wouldn't not close all the way so we could hear seagulls and people outside. My roommates had like so sense of others. They would just play music out loud with no headphones and facetime people at max volume past 10 pm. That's not the hostel's fault but i feel like some enforcement of rules would be nice. Biggest drawback of this hotel is that it's not on the main island of Venice, but it's easy enough to get between the islands with the vaporetto.
The location is superb. Very friendly customer service. The food very good. The croissant were delicious at breakfast, and so where the cicchetti. The room was good, clean. I highly recommend for staying in Venice. Very easy to go from Giudecca to anywhere.
This was my 8th time staying here - beautiful view, away from the crowds, staff are great, drinks are cheap, powerful showers, comfy bed, easy to use washer and dryer - had drinks there every single night - very sociable hostel, perfect place to watch sunset and nice interiors in common room
-Friendly Staff -great location -great environment -that would be much appreciate and great if facilities in bathroom could be repaired. I stayed at level 1, and shower head for both bath room for mens are kind of broken and spoil.
About half of the bathroom facilities had maintenance issues. lights not working, doors not shutting. Missing showerheads. Its also important that you MUST use the water taxi/ water bus to get anywhere. This costs 10 per trip or 24 per day. Adds up over a couple days. Other than the bathroom issues it was comfy. Staff was pretty friendly and helpful.
the toilets and showers were dirty and didnt function, the staff is very rude, the music from the bar downstairs was very loud until the early morning so it was impossible to sleep, the wifi is barely working, we didnt expect much as it is still a hostel, but this wasnt even the bare minimum
This was another great trip to Venice, staying at Generator. So relaxing after long days visiting La Biennale. Always so friendly, the view!!! Best in Venice. It’s a great base to see all the sights/ feel located, but also a haven to drink a spritz next to the water.
Really enjoyed our stay at Generator. It's on a very chilled island, but only a hop away from St Mark's. Vaporettos are quite expensive so it's worth buying a pass and then using it heavily for sightseeing as well as transport to and from the hostel. The staff were really friendly and our room was great. A private four bed room with spacious bathroom and an amazing view out to St Mark's. The same view could be enjoyed with breakfast and drinks in the evening.
I feel like since my first stay years ago the quality is getting worse and worse. In the meantime you cannot even lock the doors on the toilets anymore. I felt like the staff at the reception was either pretty unfriendly or acted like robots not actually caring but just playing procedures.
