Unfortunately the hotel was over-booked on our arrival late at night for our first night (of only two) but we were sent to a sister hotel, and a larger room - and as a sweetener we were given one of the rooms with a balcony overlooking the Grand Canal and Rialto. It was a tiny room but oh my goodness...

This hotels rooms are insanely small and old except for the bathroom which is updated! Also please keep in mind they have no elevators and they don't care if you do not want to walk up a flight of 7 stairs with all your luggage! I visited this hotel in December and did not have a good experience as the...

Marconi Hotel is a fabulous location beside the Rialto Bridge on the Grande Canal. There is a gondola station on the doorstep and the Rialto Bridge Vaporeti stop opposite. !0 mins walk to St Marks Square There is a wine shop and a Co-Op behind the hotel with many small shops and restaurants. The central location means you wont get...

A very convenient hotel in the centre of Venice and next to one of the most iconic locations in the world. A baroque hotel, that has seen many tourists, and will see many more tourists. The breakfast is of average quality. Rooms are small, but kept clean by good staff. This no lift in the hotel, or tea/coffee making facilities...

This hotel is the perfect location to stay. Right next to the rialto bridge. It is very easy to get lost in Venice but you will always find rialto. I have been to Venice in the summer and now winter. It is soo much quieter In winter ,no crowds and queues. The weather is still nice enough to sit outside...

After dreaming for 3 years, I finally made it to Europe. And Venice, was my first city of choice. With so much history in Europe, I look for charm and Hotel Marconi delivers that. So with understanding that the buildings are old, the walls are paper thin. So you will hear...a lot. The breakfast spread did not disappoint. Location is...

If you want to stay in a hotel in Venice, prepare to overpay for any hotel... its just how it goes in Venice. There is no shortage of tourists so they can charge whatever they want. If this is your first time in Venice, be prepared to spend fortune on water bus and even more for taxis. Pack light if...

We only stayed 1 night. The hotel was adequate. We were able to enter through the service entrance and avoid taking the stairs with all our luggage. We were able to check in early which was a huge plus. Bed was ok, pillows were sort of flat but like I mentioned the room was fine for 1 night. Breakfast was...

I took my wife to the 'Marconi' hotel as a 50 th birthday present. I've never booked a holiday before it's usually my wife's job. From the Piazzale Roma where the coach drops you from the airport is is an easy 20 min walk and easy to find as the signs point to the Rialto Bridge. Even though we got...

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
