The de l'Alboro is in a perfect location for sightseeing and transport links, and is excellent for a short break. Right next to the vaporetto stop San Angelo, it is a short walk to anywhere. The rooms are spartan, and could do without the TV (who goes to Venice to watch television?), and the bathrooms small, but this is Venice...

The hotel is located within walking distance from the S. Angelo/Sant’Angelo ferry stop and in one of the quieter areas of Venice. It was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy sections, but walking back to the hotel through deserted streets at night with limited street lights might be a bit much for some. Speaking...

We were into our 5th week away and 3rd week in Italy - we stayed at this so called 3 star hotel for 4 nights - a good location near piazza San Stefano (some very good restaurants and bars). But that was the only good thing about this mediocre hotel - just some things about this place - 1. the...

My boyfriend and I arrived on the 13th of August at 2 pm. The hotel looked old, not too clean, but we decided to not take care of it. However, we soon discovered toilet was not working. We immediately advise the owner of the hotel who told us he would have fixed it. When we got back to the hotel...

The service is horrible in this hotel. A old man in the reception should be retire. He treat me horrible, respectless, unfriendly person without manners. For this reason, this hotel should be close or this person do not work there. the other employees were ok but this old man no and I think he is a manager or the owner...

The room was clean and dated but the big problem is the AC has no thermostat. They turn it on and not very cool. A good ceiling fan would have been much more effective. The location is good but they could do a better job of giving directions.

Great location. The first night we got there and the reservation was only for 4 and we are 5. They night attendant would not allow all 5 of us to stay! Had to get a second room at a different hotel which cost me $500 euros! The next day we talked to the manager and his wife and they fixed...

Good location between saint Marc's square and Rialto. Upon arrival the receptionist was a little brash but warmed up after a while. Room was dated and the bathroom had no shower curtail so the floor got very wet each time. No curtains meant an early start. THe stairs are a killer. No lift or help with luggage. Breakfast is basic...

My husband and I spent 4 days in Venice, and absolutely fell in love with this city! Franco, the owner of L'Alboro, greeted us with enthusiasm and had great ideas of what sights are worth seeing and which are tourist traps. My husband and I enjoy more natural and historical sights, and if you know where to look you can...

Very good location in a nuce area of venice. Sadly the staff are very rude and unfriendly, which really lets the place down - it makes it a very unpleasant place to visit. I'm not sure that I've ever met such a rude receptionist!

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
