The hotel is a short walk from St Mark's Square. Our room was on the third floor and had a balcony it was small but nicely appointed. The bathroom was also rather small but functional. The room was air conditioned. From the desk clerk, to the maid, to the breakfast server, everyone was friendly and helpful. If there is a...

I have arrived home today from a lovely short break to Venice. We chose this hotel based on location and reading other trip advisor reviews previously. It's in a great spot and in walking distance to the main San Marco square and plenty of restaurants for the evening! We spent 3 nights here, both slept really well and found the...

Hotel is really nice, located in center, close to water taxi. It kept all original, so it is like traveling back in time, but it is still in good shape. We had magnificent view to church. Breakfast is excellent, staff very helpful with good English.

This is a great place to stay in Venice! The location is perfect - just a block from the vaporetto - no bridges - and across from the Chiesa di Santa Maria del Giglio. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was small but beautiful and very clean. The breakfast was great. It's within walking distance to most...

Be very careful about making nonrefundable payments to this hotel. They do mean nonrefundable. My husband needs to have a total hip replacement at the time when we would have stayed here, and even though the Hotel Bel Sito had 3 months to re-book the room, they have been legalistic and are keeping our payment. They also ignored many of...

Dear Madame, wishing again all the best to you and your husband, we would like to point out that when reserving a not refundable rate (that is the most convenient but entails also a risk margin in case something happens) before confirming, in our web site, you are going to see this advice: "We recommend you to protect yourself against...

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights with our 7 month old. Room was a larger room overlooking the square with a travel cot provided. Still on the small side, but good for European standards. Great bathroom, comfy bed, clean, friendly staff, good breakfast and great hot chocolate! Good central location but still quiet at night. We were...

We had a double twin room which was spacious by European standards. The beds were not very comfortable and there didn't appear to be any English television. The television wasn't really an issue as we had a jam packed sightseeing itinerary. The bathrooms are super small/tight even by European standards. The breakfast buffet was very interesting. The hotel obviously caters...

Excellent service. All staff were courteous, good humoured, friendly and efficient. Good and varied breakfast. Central Location. Regularly sereneded as the gondoliers glided past our bedroom window! We made one special request of the hotel on booking and this request was met without any difficulty.

A very warm and friendly older style hotel with lots of charm. Excellent breakfast. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Although very central to everything it was quiet at night, with no disturbance at all. Comfortable bed.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
