We recently completed 4 nights at this hotel. Room is clean, serviced each day. We were supplied from the second day with a kettle, plus tea and coffee sachets. The bed was comfortable, lovely clean and modern bathroom with good solid hot water flow. This is worth highlighting as it seems somewhat a rarity on our travels in Italy. Same... More

This is a great little place to stay for mooching about Venice, ideal location and easy to get to. It's not the most upmarket place but the rooms are clean and tidy, the staff are very helpful. Our room was above a frozen yoghurt bar which can be noisy sometimes but it does mean you can have a refreshing breakfast... More

Well this was our 7th visit and we have again had an excellent stay at Hotel Al Vagon. This time we took other family members with us who equally enjoyed their stay. The hotel is very friendly, clean and so centrally located. Highly recommended - what excellent value for money!

Stayed here for one night . Hotel was good and clean if a bit old fashioned. Excellent value and quiet at night. A little difficult to find in a tiny square but recommended for and economy one night stay

Both me and my wife stayed at Hotel Al Vagon during Christmas 2015. The staff was really friendly and helped us a lot when it comes to locating landmarks. Moreover, the hotel is in the centre of Venice which helped a lot.

Terrible hotel. Do not stay here. Wouldn't refund money owed to me, terrible staff and extremely unhelpful. We couldn't stay as my wife was pregnant and sick. Explained to staff and they couldn't care less.

Terrific location , friendly staff, such value for money. This hotel is a small boutique hotel, rooms are quite big, spotlessly clean and very friendly concierge. Stayed for 4 nights would come back again.

This place has the perfect location, literally in the middle of everything in Venice. Fair price and good service, the room was always clean and tidy. Free wifi available and very friendly staff. It would be perfect with a 24h reception.

I stayed in Venice at Hotel Al Vagon 2 nights. The room was very clean, big and quiet. I recommend it sincerely. Very good position on the island. Very good internet signal. If we ever return we will surely stay here again.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
