Small and cozy, clean and pleasent. If you arrive with the luggage by train, you can comfortably reach the hotel through typicla Venice street. Rooms are not so large but for he Hotels in Venice it is typical. You can miss barrier free access and elevator (there is only one level). Hotel is relatively quiet but first two days there...

The hotel location is perfect, very close to everything and the price is very good. Our room was very small, but tidy. There were few problems with the shower in the room. The shower itself was broken and one morning there was no hot water.

This hotel is in a great spot in Canaregio, not far from the train station. We were in room 14 overlooking the street. The room was clean, comfy bed with a good but small bathroom. The WiFi was excellent and was good enough to power stream the flat screen TV via Roku stick. The downside was the air con didn't...

We stayed here for 2 nights. Our room was quite compact, still enough for us since we spent most of the time outside. Bed was comfortable too. It's true there's a lot of mosquitos in the rooms. Service was friendly at the reception desk, spoke very good English. All in all, not bad if you want to stay close to...

This hotel is situated in an excellent location in Venice - 5 minutes walk to the train station and 10 minutes walk to the bus station. It is very close to the vaporetto stop. Also it is situated in a busy street, full of shops and restaurants. The area is very nice, also to go out at night. The room...

Very close to the train and the Piazzale Roma. On the outer edge but Venice is very walkable - maps are handy but I found in the rain not so great - use your phones' GPS option for all those twisting alley ways! I travel on a budget, so I worry about how hard beds are and how clean a...

Well positioned on a busy street close to the station. Good double glazing so no problems with noise. Air con worked and was very necessary in September. Room basic but clean, bed comfortable. Bathroom fully equipped but very small, shower weak and only just hot enough. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included in our rate and was typical for...

We were looking forward to our stay in this quaint hotel on the first floor in the middle of a bustling market street, but it was not to be. September is warm in Venice and air conditioning in the rooms in a must. We were given a room on the top floor where the air conditioning was not working. The...

Just a short walk from the train station- clean and minimally decorated/furnished. Was just fine for a shower and sleep. The management will lock you out if you stay out too long at night. Street noise was minimal and the air conditioning unit drowned it out anyway. No breakfast but there are plenty of choices near by.

Venice has a large choice of expensive places to stay and for many the prices maybe off putting. However there are some hotels in the Cannaregio area which offer simple B&B at a reasonable rate per night. We stayed in Hotel Adriatico which is easily located in the street called Ria Terá Lista di Spagna, This street is very close...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
