If you want friendly staff who are always smiling especially the little lady in the morning who keeps giving you croissants which they are delicious I might add. A Comfortable bed and the best location in venice (50 metres from san marco square)that you will ever find for such a cheap price

Prior to arrival they helped us with the directions getting there from train station and even the airport transfer upon check out. It was my husband's birthday when we arrived and when the receptionist found out he surprised us by bringing a bottle of prosecco in our room. One of the staff also help us on how to get to... More

Ideally positioned for San Marco and Rialto. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was plentiful. We stayed 4 nights. The first night we were on the top floor and it was baking hot, with the air conditioning not working. We ended up with open windows and were mauled by the mosquitoes! They moved us the next day, which was much better,... More

Very warm welcome and excellent staff. Located near one of the famous handmade glass works shop which is a stop for tours operators, super central place, 1 minute walking to San Marco square. Stylish decorated rooms. Strongly recommended.

Great location and a reasonable price. Friendly helpful staff, I used this as a base for photographing Venice and it's was a good choice. Less than a minute from St Marc's and 5 mins from the Grand Canal , close to shops cafes and and restaurants. Rooms were on the small side, but it's an old building. Staff always courteous... More

Loved the location, very accessible to St Mark's Square and area. We took advantage of the rooftop terrace and brought our own late night picnic of cheese, olives and wine as Venice is not a late night city. Breakfast was good, not great. Rooms were quite spacious by European standards and bathrooms very clean. The staff were superb!

I agree with other reviewers who said that the location is fantastic - just off St Mark's Square and easy to get to with luggage from the vaporetto stop even in the rain at night which is what faced us on our recent visit. Our room was pretty small as was the bathroom - but short of big money... that's... More

We stayed 4 nights, very clean and comfortable hotel in a great spot. Staff were helpful and the pastries at breakfast were delicious. No noise at night even though it is close to the square. We hired the porter at the water station to take our bags to the hotel. Well worth the money, the paths are a little uneven.

Location Location Location This is the place to stay. 1 minute walk to St Marc Square and staff really friendly and helpful. Bed was not very comfortable. But overall loved its ease to find and friendly staff. For someone coming to Venice for the first time this place is Ideal.

Round the corner from St Marks square. Great little B&B. The terrace was an extra bonus great for breakfast and an afternoon glass of wine. The room was clean and decorated in typical venetian style..

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
