Stopped for 2 nights as part of our Italian adventure and due to only having the 2 nights we wanted a location super close to all the sites and this definitely fits the bill. Easy check in and helpful advise, we had a room in a seperate building around the corner from the hotel. The room itself was a little...

The rooms are right near all the action. Couple of things to keep in mind. There is no lift, so if you get a room on the 3rd floor expect to carry all your luggage up 5 flights of narrow stairs. The rooms are kind of small and some have a shared bathroom. Also, the restaurants around the hotel charge...

We booked on site and the people there are very friendly. The room and bathroom were very clean and nice furnished. The hotel is super close to the Piazza San Marco (just around the corner). We would definitely stay there again!

We wanted a reasonable hotel for a reasonable price, in a location close to the action. That's what we got. I'd do 3.5 stars if I could. "Good" is relative of course - we were near the hubbub, so it was loud on Friday night...it was comfortable, 2 beds and a small sitting area, and bathroom that was remodeled, but...

Stayed here one night with my family during our Italian holiday as we wanted to sample Venice after dark. Not sure what to expect as it was a last minute booking but it really exceeded all of our expectations. The staff were all very kind and courteous and although basic - the rooms were exactly what we wanted. We stayed...

Couldn't believe the location: literally a few seconds walk from St Mark's square! (The chimes from the clock tower might be something to consider if you're a light sleeper!) Our room was basic but very clean and certainly big enough. As a bonus, EVERYTHING worked! Lovely shower, a/c, tv, hairdryer and electrics. Plus the free WiFi was great. The reception...

Location, Location and Location! - This hotel is situated right near San Marco square and a nice little gem, if we overlook the strenuos uphill (literally) task of carrying the luggage to the third floor and back! Hotel rooms though small are very clean with all necessary amenities. The hotel staff were very friendly and very responsive. There are nice...

We wanted to stay near St Mark's Square & were lucky to find this hotel. Centrally located near the sight seeing action. 5 minute walk across St. Mark's square from Vaporetto stations. At least 6 very clean and basic rooms on 2nd, 3rd & 4th floors (Italian floors 1,2,3). Didn't see a luggage lift, so pack light as you carry...

The hotel is just a very short walk from Piazza San Marco. It is very convenient to get water taxies, Gondolas, Island boats from near the hotel. Almost all the sight seeing boats have a stop here. Some starts their tour from here only. It takes nearly 30 minutes to walk to the hotel from Santa Lucia Train Station and...

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
