You must expect with this hotel that it is quite old and dated, it is a bit poky and there are no lifts... but, it is fantastic value, the staff are lovely and the location is unbeatable. If you are just looking for somewhere which is good value, comfortable and safe and friendly in the heart of Venice, then it... More

I have stayed here twice, it is the perfect place to stay if you are in Venice for a few days. Front desk is very helpful and friendly, the rooms are large and clean. We also were able to get a water taxi to pick us up and drop us off right at the hotel. Also the location is great,... More

We had a wonderful stay, rooms are clean and spacious. The location was fantastic! Breakfast was an added bonus! Other reviews advised that it was difficult to find, but we found it quite easily following the instructions provided by the hotel!

We booked our stay at hotel Bartolomeo with GalaHotels.com. It was the third time we booked with them and it was again an excellent experience. Cheaper than with other websites and absolutely reliable. The hotel itself is wonderful. We stayed there for 4 nights and we enjoyed it . Our room was on the first floor, next to the breakfast... A wonderful hotel 30 seconds walk away from Rialto bridge. A little tricky to find at first but easy once you found it the first time. The hotel is very small but the room wasn't as small as I was expecting. It's very basic - just a bed, a wardrobe and a small desk. The bathroom is very tiny but... More

I booked this hotel after reading good reviews and after staying 4 nights in a twin bedded room, I agree it is just the best for price and location. It's a few minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge and in the other direction San Marco square. The staff are all extremely helpful and friendly and will help with anything day... More

I really happy with this place. Excellent service, clean place and the people are really friendly and helpful. The important thing is a really good location. Closed to realtor bridge. Where you can find good restaurants and bars for excellent prices.

This hotel has a fantastic location which is very close to the Rialto bridge. This means that most of the signs in Venice, point right back to where this hotel is located. Once you find the hotel the first time, around a few bends and off of a large open square which is right near the Rialto bridge, you shouldn't... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
