The hotel located in the heart of Venice at the St Marks or Marco stop i.e the very last stop. Its a 2 star budget hotel with no coffee making facilities. Just imagine a night without hot water to drink except you go out to the nearby bar or restaurant, luckily we were only for one night stay. Wifi is... More

Many thanks for all staff of this hotel! Very good breakfast with fruits, omelette, sausages etc. We had large room with 2 beds and sofa, for January was very warm and comfortable. Wi-fi only in lobby but we have no problem with it and had cool lobby - time. Supper location - about 50-70 m from Sam Marco on the... More

The location is perfect, and the staff is ok, but that's about as far as the positives go. For as expensive as it is, you'd think you'd be getting something at least decent, but my friend and I were shocked. The room is very 1980's, including the furniture and mattress. The bathroom can also use some help. The wifi was... More

The hotel is near to the pier San Marco BUT that about it .First , the staff was rude - request for hot water in the room and was flatly refused with a No and he quickly turn around - signal to you the conversation has ended .The room was spacious but equip with ill-fitting facilities . The cupboard door... More

The room was full of mold and the bathroom didn't look better (dirty). Because the Hotel was fully booked, we couldn't get another room or quit our reservation. Also the Lobby was full of mold. We cannot say something about the breakfast, we did order it but didn't showed up because of our disappointment

Visited Hotel Casanova in Dec 2015, as mentioned before hotel is just next to San Marco - a perfect location and really easy to access, do not hesitate to bring 4-wheel luggages. You will be amazed with the location, in the heart of the san marco area, next to luxury brand stores, close to vaperotto stations, Harry's bar, etc. Lady... More

Positive: Great location and has an elevator. Although it doesn't offer breakfast, there's a cafe right across the street. Negative: Thin walls, you can hear every move from the other rooms when the guests are arriving.

The room was small for the price. Verry small. The breakfast buffet was very good. Location was excellent. Staff were often grumpy. Hotel was expensive for what it was, but Venice in general is very expensive. Electricity exploded and went off at one point.

Upon arrival the staff were not friendly at all, the room was dirty, the carpets filthy, the bathroom not enough room to swing a cat, mould in the shower, the shower went hot, cold, then dribbled out. Splattered mosquitoes all over the walls. Room 444 is next to the lift shaft, every time the lift moves you can hear it... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
