San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

Room was clean and breakfast was basic but all that was needed. When you consider it’s only reasonably inexpensive yet ona couple of minutes walk from St Marks Square you can’t really go wrong. Why pay for more when you are only really gonna be in the room to sleep!

Nothing in my room was working: tv, telephone and toilet. My aunt went to the reception to ask for help and the receptionist said she must wait until the next morning to change the room. I went there and asked for a solution and he said he could not do anything. I asked for

Nice little place. Room we had was quite small but comfortable. Breakfast was continental and very basic. Staff were great. Couldn’t get a better location for st marks square. Only Fo yards to where everyone heads.

Rang to try and find the location and was told me they were too busy to help me! Spent two hours in the rain trying to navigate my way. Wi-fi drops out all the time which is frustrating. Desk staff were not that helpful. Location is great but that doesn’t make up for the rubbish

We were not looking for any place up market, just a place that's clean, at a good price and location to St Mark's Square a must. This hotel ticked all the boxes. Venice we found is an expensive place for tourists including entry to most touristy places. I remember ducking back

Is the hotel wheelchair accessible?
Although the hotel would be easy to get into and there is a very small lift the corridors are narrow and the room we had was small,I wouldn't recommend it for a wheelchair.

Take a vaporetto line 1 or line 2 at the Ferrovia stop, slightly right as you exit the station, to St Marco Vallaresso. Journey time about 20 minutes. When you get off turn right and walk along the canal roadway to the entrance to St Mark's Square, maybe 2-3 minutes. Walk up the square straight towards the clock archway. Walk under the archway and take a right onto Calle Larga San Marco, about 2 minutes. Calle Specchieri is on the left about 1 minute along. The entrance to Calle Specchieri is quite narrow and just before the street widens out is the Hotel Diana on the right
