The hotel was a short walk from St Marks square. Our bed was comfortable and the bathroom very big. The hotel was clean and the staff pleasant and very very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We would certainly stay here again.

An excellent hotel. Grade 11 in a scale of 10!! Room small but very good. There are everything one need for a good stay. Locations n also fantastic. One may even cry with Casanova over the PONTE. SOSPIRI - tears' bridge. The Vaporetto's stop to the airport is also very close. Congratulations - two Nicolases, Paolo and all others!! Torit... More

The room isn't exciting, but I didn't come to Venice to spend a lot of time in the hotel. The room was clean, the maid service excellent. Wi-fi was free in the room and in public areas of the hotel. The breakfast is included in the room rate and was very good...cereals and fresh fruit, pastries, honey and jams, cookies,... More

small hotel. A few steps from Piazza San Marco and the S. Zaccaria motor boat station. Nothing fancy, but very clean. The breakfast buffet had many choices. Near shops, restaurants, and the canals of Venice.

The hotel is well located but it's facilities are very poor and out dated. No tea/coffee and room was poorly equipped and very tired. There is no bar and 'breakfast' is served by reception. This small hotel is surrounded by bars and restaurants so noisy most of the night. Do not open the window! Requested a double but got single... More

The major issue with this hotel was the stifling heat in the room! The bathroom was so hot and the extractor fan did not work so it was impossible to sleep at night. If we opened the window it was noisy throughout the night and there was a smoking area just below our window so that did not work! When... More

For a three star hotel at this location and including breakfast you cannot do better. Perhaps a bit dated interior but clean and not a very extensive breakfast buffet but good enough. We stayed in room 301, a corner room where you actually get a glimpse of the sea and had little problems with noise. Given the location and you... More

We arrived in Venice via water taxi on a rainy night about 2230 without a hotel reservation. We were denied many hotel rooms because of my race. One hotel said they did not have room only to have a white couple walk up and get a room without a problem with out a reservation as well. We continued to search... More

The hotel was fine, but for the same price, there are much better places in Venice. The rooms are on a busy street and it can be quite noisy and hard to sleep. However, the hotel is a 5 min walk from St Marco, so it is a great location.

This hotel is ideally situated close to the San Zaccharia vaporetto station and the Piazzo San Marco. Our twin room on the second floor was comfortable (except for the rather hard pillows), the breakfasts adequate and the staff pleasant..especially the lady in the dining room. Unfortunately the lift was out of action for the majority of our 4 day stay... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
